Try to Fix System Problems During or After Windows Update/Upgrade

Try To Fix System Problems During or After Windows Update/Upgrade

***You can try this. It has worked for people with many issues during or after Windows Updates and it also has not for some people.

Do a System Restore and Manually Install the Current Update or Creator Pack. Personally I would not use Windows Update for cumulative or creators updates.

To access System Restore, there is many ways.

1. Run Box/Cortana Search/Command Prompt (ADMIN)

Type in>>rstrui.exe and press Enter.

2. THIS PC ICON - Right Click>>Properties>>System Protection>>System Restore.

3. Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\System>>System Protection>>System Restore.

OR

4. Hold down shift key &

Select - Start Menu>>Power>>Restart PC.

5. Log Off/Sign Out,

Hold down shift key &

Select - Power>>Restart PC.

6. Use your Repair CD or Windows installation Media DVD or USB.

On Start Up Options.

Troubleshoot>>Advanced>>System Restore.

Select a date and time before this update, ??? days or ??? Hours

Restore Your System.

***NOTE: Right after the System Restore and you log on, go directly to Windows Update and set the time to about 6 hours from now to 12 hours from now to prevent it from trying to download and install update again while you are doing it manually.

Now try and do the update manually.

First, go to control panel>>System>>System Protection,

And create a new Restore Point.

Here is the update history page for Windows 10 Versions for Update Downloads.

Keep it in your saved links/bookmarks/favorites for future.

Now go to here for current Build >>KB???????? **ALL Windows 10 Versions and Builds**

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4099479

Then go to bottom of page to download, click the link.

Then on the catalog page, select your proper version.

Get the Cumulative and not the Delta.

Install and restart PC.

For the current newest Creators Version:

April, 2018 - v1803

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

***If you can not get past the Start Up BIOS to even boot, then try holding down the Power Button for a few seconds. You may have to do this more than once.

***Start Up Options is also for many other Tools to help fix problems. Use them with Caution!

***Here, you can also RESET YOUR PC back to the last Install/Upgrade/Creators Pack or Major Update point and usually save your Files and Settings, if so, you will be prompted to choose to do so.

Thanks for the reply but I can't get to the Run Box/Cortana Search/Command Prompt area because the laptop goes from the Acer start up screen directly to installing the updates and freezes at 96%.
