Formatting Issues - Outlook Adding Extra Line Breaks After Email is Sent

Hi everyone!

Sometimes I'll draft an email in Outlook (web version) and it'll look fine, but after the email is sent it will have additional line breaks and even remove some spacing (see screenshot below):

The two white blocks are the bottom are my signature, so the email text is squished up very close to my signature. For context, the original email (in draft form) looked like this:

Any help would be appreciated!

Good day!

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Based on your description you are facing the issue on your outlook on the web.

Before we proceed, I would require more information to assist you accurately.

1. Please can you double confirm if the issue happens in all the browser or specific browser.

2. Please may i know if you are facing the issue as well in outlook client (outlook desktop).

if the issue happens as well in desktop too:

  • Open Outlook.

  • On the File tab, select Options.

  • In the Options dialog, select Mail.

  • In the Message format section, clear the Remove extra line breaks in plain text messages check box.

If the issue happening only in outlook on the web, and in all browsers, you need to contact our support online because you are using simple email using the System.Net.Mail.MailMessage class i suppose it's HTML and our support online have some back-end tools check your issue. Here we lack of resource.

We too are seeing the exact same thing and will open a ticket though with Microsoft.

It doesn't happen with the bulk of the email sent but we when it does happen it seems to be only when responding from a shared mailbox or user mailbox that the user has been provided view/send permissions to.

It does not seem to happen when sending new email, only when replying.

The extra line breaks in the email will show in the Sent Items for whatever mailbox it happened on.

The recipient does not see the extra line breaks at their end which is so super strange.

Thanks

Dave

We are having this exact same issue. Did you find a solution? I used a work around by creating new emails but now it's doing it for that too.

Hi, I would love to hear the solution too. It's an occasional recurring issue but in our case on the outlook client (not OWA)
