I tried everything but that Calibri 11 keeps popping back every time I return to Word 2013. I clicked the Ctrl+D icon - customize text - and it looked good for a while, but that Mafioso Calibri was back this morning. All I want is that Arial 12 is the
default font and font size. Can someone tell me how to do this?
If changes to your Normal template are not being saved, there's a good chance that a third-party add-in is preventing it. One of the most notorious culprits is PDF Complete, an application that comes installed on a lot of systems. Ultimately, for your own
sanity, you need to find out what's preventing Normal from being saved and deal with it. As a short-term workaround, however, here's an easy way to open the template for direct editing:
In Word, press Alt+F11; the Visual Basic Editor opens. Press Ctrl+G to activate the Immediate window. In that window, type
NormalTemplate.OpenAsDocument
and press Enter. Normal opens, but note that it may not be on top of all windows. You can close the Visual Basic Editor. Make the desired changes to the Normal file, and then save and close it. If the changes you have made have not been recognized as changes
(the Undo button is not activated), press Spacebar, then Backspace to "dirty" the file, thus ensuring that the template will actually be saved.
