Wifi switch not working after Windows 10 upgrade

Hello, i just upgraded from windows 7 to 10.

Laptop model HP pavilion dv6-7080se

wifi antenna

Manufacturer: Broadcom
Description: Broadcom 4313GN 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi Adapter
Driver version: 5.100.82.139
Physical address (MAC): ‎08-ED-B9-29-0A-E3

Device manager says the drivers are up to date

My keybord dedicated key toggles between airplane mode and wifi, but is always red

Troubleshooter says the wifi capabilites are turned off

I can't seem to find how to turn on the wifi in BIOS setup, there are only Main/Security/SystemConfiguration/EXIT

This folder doesnt not exist, since some say to delete HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3}

This is what i get on cmd prompt

C:\Users\Gabriella>netsh interface show interface

Admin State    State          Type             Interface Name
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Enabled        Disconnected   Dedicated        Wireless Network Connection
Enabled        Connected      Dedicated        Local Area Connection

C:\Users\Gabriella>netsh interface set interface "Wireless Network Connection"enabled
No more data is available.

I NEED A SOLUTION TO THIS ASAP PLEASE

Hi Ar

so i tried a hard reset after installing the HP antenna button driver, meaning shut down computer take of battery, unplug AC, press power button for 15 secs then start it up again, and finally the bluetooth and wifi now initialize and work. I am scared to turn off my pc again, too afraid it will glitch again. Do you think this is a permanent fix?

best regards

Gabriella

Gabriella, this is a long known issue with some HP Laptops and Windows 10.

There is a fix, albeit a strange one, but it works!

You will need a Windows 7 installation disc for a couple of minutes, see if you can get a loan of one

Insert the Windows 7 DVD into your DVD Drive, reboot and boot from the Windows 7 installation - do not go further than the first screen and do not click anything

Press Fn + F12 until the wireless light comes on

Remove the Windows 7 DVD press and hold power button to perform a Hard Shut down

Now boot back into Windows 10, you will find that the WIFI light in now on all the time and the HP Wireless switch no longer works.

So turn on or off WIFI on your HP laptop, click the network icon on your taskbar and use the WIFI button
