2021-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5003173) - Error 0x8007001e

So, trying to install the latest update.

When I select Update and Shut Down, it reboots, then hangs on a black screen with the rotating circle o fdots.

Left it alone for a few hours and it is still on that screen.  Have to do a hard shut down to get out of it.

Hi, I'm Ana M., an Independent Advisor. I would love to help you today.

Yeah, make a hard close.

You can try to install it manually. You must deactivate any third-party antivirus, and then download the file, when you go to update to do it without an Internet connection.

It's not the downloading that's the problem. It's the installation where it hangs.

Yeah, this is the second time I've had to use the Media Creation Tool to update Windows.  Windows Update has failed the last two updates cycles.

So...I'm having the same issue. I've had this happen with two other computers with different updates and those computers no longer operate... ****. Before I shut this computer down and have it never come back up again will someone please tell me what to do to fix it...in a way that a non tech person will be able to do? Also....how do I get Microsoft to pay me for the other two computers that you've ruined. With the other two computers microsoft support was useless. The advice they gave only made things worse.

I think I ended up having to reinstall Windows. No other way around it. Because, you know, Microsoft.
