Dolby Atmos random cut outs

Hello,

I have an Xbox One X with the May 2018 update, connected via HDMI to an Onkyo HTS-5805 Atmos 5.1.2 system. Atmos output from the One X is proving problematic, it experiences random cut outs for a fraction of a second that give the audio a jittery quality. I have attempted a factory reset of both the console and reciever with nil joy, and have tried wiring to different outputs. I also have an Astro A50 headset connected to the console via optical output which experiences the same issue. Is there anything I can do to fix the problem?

Thanks

Yeah, this happens to me as well on a Yamaha receiver, but only when using Atmos.  PCM seems to be just fine, but with Atmos the sound quality is occasionally very poor or cuts out entirely.  I'm surprised I'm not seeing any other comments or complaints about it.  Either not enough people using Atmos or the problem doesn't happen to everyone.  At least with this update the sound stream doesn't get dropped for me at the desktop when it switches to PCM, so if they fixed that issue maybe the sound quality will be improved in the next system update.  For now I guess we just wait and either switch back to PCM or deal with the random cut outs.

I have the same problem with SONY HT-ST 5000 soundbar.

Random cut outs and the sound is full of cracking/popping sounds.

PCM sounds fine.

I have too sound/picture cutout problems. I have Sony HT-ZF9 3.1 Dolby Atmos Soundbar. It seems to be only when enabling Atmos on Xbox one  S. Super annoying. I have latest Sony zf9 soundbar update. It enabled eartc option but that didnt help for the problem either! Microsoft fix this and fast!!! When i not using atmos on xbox one s everything works just fine.. so its xbox one problem not soundbar or tv! I have sony tv also.

From what I’ve researched it’s still a known issue and the only “fix” for now is to change your audio settings to something else and then back to Atmos. I have a C7 and have experience this a LOT while watching tv with a Dish Network Joey that is directly connected to my tv (Xbox isn’t even used for passthrough). So it seems like MS is not the only one having issues.
