Touchpad does not work after Windows 10 clean install.

Dell Inspiron 15 3542 Windows 10 32 bit.

I am running 32 bit due to 64 bit not installing and working on my system anymore.

My touchpad does not work. I am using an External wireless Keyboard with mousepad integration instead. I know the touchpad on the laptop is functional because It works in the dell PSA diagnostics page you can get in when pressing F12 during boot. Also I was able to turn it on in Ubuntu when i was running it, through the terminal. But it's not even showing up on the devices list, however there are three unrecognized devices with the Code 28. it also says the drivers are not installed for device. When clikcing update driver, it says it cant find it. No details or anything.

Answer

Hi.

In rare cases, this issue with touchpad could have happened due to compatibility. We suggest that you contact your manufacturer to assist you installing the updated drivers that will work with the latest build of Windows 10.

If there are no available updates for your device, you have an option to rollback prior to the Windows 10 update. You can follow the steps provided in this forum article. This will let you install the previous version of Windows 10.
