Microsoft Edge Google search problem

I have Windows 10 updated from Win 7 pro and when I try to change the default search to Google or anything in Edge I have this weird problem. After I change it when I try to search for something it goes to a weird link like : "http://random%20words%20I%type. But when I have the bing it shows me the good link like :

https://www.bing.com/search?q=random+words+I+type&qs=n&form=QBRE&pq=random+words+i+type&sc=0-17&

If this isn't clear enough, my problem is that I can't search for anything, only for full links like http://www.something.website using other web searches than Bing.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay.

Does this issue occur from Internet Explorer or other browser?

Please follow the section which says how can I clear and manage cookies in Microsoft Edge;

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows-10/edge-privacy-faq

You can also check this link below for more information:

Thank You.

This answer is so not helpful.

So answer the question already!

Why don't you just go ahead and say it...

"Edge was created to make sure that our customers can't use Google to search anything.

We have made it just as difficult as we think that we can justify in court.

You see..We have already lost a lawsuit by Google about making it very difficult or impossible to use other browsers from previous versions of Windows; and now, we are trying this gambit.

We may get away with it using words like "consistent experience"  but we doubt it.

So we have a fix on this already written but we will keep that to ourselves for now.

We need to make this as hard as possible for G?$#&@ to win the lawsuit.

There so much at stake - all the money is in the search engines, that's where companies pay us to feature their products and sites.

That is why we are giving this "upgrade" to Windows 10 away free.

So for now nah, nah, nah-nah, nah."

This so-called answer was not at all helpful.  As far as I can determine, you cannot change the search option to anything but Bing and have it function in any capacity.

Another ridiculous "feature" is that Silverlight, (a MS product !!!) cannot be used with MS Edge so now numerous websites no longer function in this "improved" browser.

FAIL

What part of "Open with Internet Explorer" did you not understand?

The issue with Google was solved in an update several weeks ago.

Sorry, I was off trying to be productive and didn't realize the "solution" to the problem cited in Edge was to not use it and instead use the older version browser.  So what use is Edge then?

Also, I see no reference here to any fix for using Google to search inside Edge without the problem identified in the original post.  Maybe I just haven't invested the required hours to get this basic function to work.

That it is undeniably quick in most uses and when some other functionality is required one can open the same page in IE without leaving Edge. I do admit that the solution is rather crude and that it had been wiser if Edge had just incorporated IE inside it's own Tabs or Windows running IE code.

The instructions for adding other Search engines are crystal clear once you admit to yourself that you need to read the instructions as provided in 'Learn More'. If you have been to Google before a few times then Google will already be in the list of providers to choose from and adding it is straightforward. If not you need to visit Google before you can add it and that is basically what the instruction is about.

Thanks. I have been through the instructions for selecting Google to search in the address bar but it still has the issue identified in the original post.  I have now pinned IE to the taskbar so until they actually make Edge functional with Google and Silverlight, at the least, I will just use IE or Chrome.  I'd go just to Chrome but a number of sites I access for work don't support it.

How is it possible that MS releases a browser with this many obvious issues, including compatibility with it's own software?  I'm not a MS hater by any means.  I run 365 in my business but this Edge is a bad product at this point.

Thanks again for your thoughts.

Which is the exact same instruction that is under 'Learn More'.

Another way to try out different search engines is http://orthodox.io/edge/ and see if the problem extends to other search engines as well.

...It is, but maybe if the source is something other than Microsoft someone will pay attention to it?

I'm not having any of the issues listed here, Google is the default search engine for edge. I will say that chrome has been really bad about resources and killing battery life lately, so I got rid if it and have been using edge exclusively. Before someone starts this ****, I am not a Microsoft employee.
