Feature update to Windows 10, version 2004 causing issues with credentials

Hello, I had a problem after installing the Feature update to Windows 10, version 2004 causing issues with credentials. Specifically my problem related to email accounts in Outlook not remembering the account password and a similar problem with Adobe Creative Cloud. No matter how many times I would enter the password, it would always ask again for the password when restarting Outlook and similar problem with Adobe Creative Cloud it would always ask me to sign in again after rebooting my computer (which loads it automatically). I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and did you find a solution?

I was not able to find a solution to this problem that worked even after manually removing credentials from the Credential Manager and adding them again in the respective applications, so I uninstalled the feature update and reverted back to the previous version of Windows. In case someone else needs to revert back and uninstall Feature update to Windows 10, version 2004, I found a good article with instructions here: https://pureinfotech.com/uninstall-windows-10-2004-2020-update/. The caveat is that you must do this within 10 days of the install as the old version of Windows is automatically deleted after that time.

I have similar issues since updating to Version 2004, Outlook prompting for passwords with 3 different email accounts. Also denying access to a shared printer due to credentials not staying. I have read deleting credentials from Credential Manager and re inputting does not resolve.

Another unhappy user here with a similar problem that I believe started with Feature update to Windows 10, version 2004.  Windows forgets my Microsoft login (OneDrive fails), my email passwords (Outlook 2016), and the credentials for my password manager (1Password).  I've cleared every single credential from the Credential Manager, rebooted, re-logged on, and still it forgets after the next reboot.  The Credential Manager shows that credentials are still there but they do not seem to work.

I had exactly the same problem on 2 PC's, one of them brand new !, also after upgrading to version 2004. The only work around that succeeded for me was to create a brand new user account, configure it and transfer all data from the old account. Not an elegant solution. Not sure if this credential problem only occurs on certain makes and models of PC ?

I am responding with a post from another thread that resolved my issue. Credit to Bil-D.

"Sign into https://account.microsoft.com/ and be sure your MS acct is in good order.  If you have multiple devices shown using that same MS acct make sure each is valid and in good order and there are no left-over old devices shown.

I had the same Outlook PW problems you're having after updating to version 2004.  I switched both of my devices to sign-in with a Local Acct and then back to sign-in with my MS acct. and the problems went away.  I later updated my second PC to version 2004 and it came up running problem-free."

I had similar issues after updating to version 2004. I log in only to a local account and never to my MS account.  After re-inputting my user ids/passwords into my Opera browser and Outlook, Windows then automatically restarted after installing a quality update.  After the restart none of my credentials were saved and I was forced to reenter credentials all over again.   After some online searching and seeing that this has been a common problem with 2004, I immediately reverted back to version 1909 and set Windows Update to defer feature updates for 365 days until I could find a solution.

Interestingly, this happened on my desktop PC which is running Windows 10 Pro.  I also have an old laptop running Windows 10 Home, which I had updated to version 2004 back on June 22 to check out 2004 before installing it on the desktop.  I started up the laptop to see if this had the same issue, and surprisingly it did not.  I restarted that system several times and it never forgot the credentials in Chrome.  I did not have to sign into my MS account, just my local account, and it has been working exactly like I would expect it to work.  I'm wondering if the problem has something to do with Windows Pro edition.

For those having the issue, which edition of Windows 10 are you running - Home or Pro?

As for Bryce Wilsons solution does this mean we are forced to log into our systems with our MS account if we wanted credentials to be saved between system restarts?

Thanks Bryce. I'm using the local account option and don't really want to have to use the MS account option. But perhaps that's why this issue wasn't caught earlier in testing -- perhaps most people use the MS account option? At least it's a possible solution to consider.

Sames problems with Win 10 Home, it is so sever and it affected VS 2019 Publishing profiles, SQL Studio, Azure .. All credentials are not saved no matter what  Personal or Work accounts,

Had to revert back to Old Windows (Recovery to Previous Windows release)  to get rid of this mess.

Ridiculous.

I am sure all of us would appreciate as to WHEN ARE THE DEVELOPERS going to resolve this issue.  Myself I recommend Windows 10 & the new Edge as great improvements.  Microsoft don't let Apple eat your lunch.  Ladies & gents let's resolve this issue and ASAP please.  We love your software.  Thank you.
