Answer

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

This usually happens when there is insufficient permission given to the CLSID and the APPID. I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below to provide the permissions:

Note:  Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

Follow the steps to take backup of registry.

  1. Press Windows key + R, to open Run box.

  2. Type regedit and click on OK. This will open Registry editor.

  3. Now, navigate to HKEY_Classes_Root\CLSID\*CLSID that appeared in the error message*.

  4. Right click on the CLSID, click on Permissions and click on Advanced.

  5. Click on Change beside owner, type Administrators, then click Check Names and click on OK.

  6. Click on Add and click on Select a Principal.

  7. Type Administrators, then click Check Names and click on OK.

  8. Click on Full Control and click on OK.

  9. Click Apply and then click OK.

  10. Now, navigate to HKEY_LocalMachine\Software\Classes\AppID\*APPID that appeared in the error message*

  11. Right click on the APPID, and repeat the steps from 4 to 9.

Please reply with the status of the issue, we will be glad to help you further.
