Harman Kardon Invoke Setup Failure

Hello

I've owned my Harman/Kardon Invoke speaker for almost 3 years now, and haven't had an issue with it until now.

It stopped working suddenly, and when I tried to reset it (by holding the mute button for 5 seconds) the speaker never finishes setting up. The Cortana device setup app says it's ready to go, but the speaker itself never says so, the light just keeps slowly blinking forever.

I've tried using different WIFI networks, re-installing the setup app, trying the setup on my phone, and I've even made sure all my software is up to date. I have a theory that the device can never be linked to my account for some reason, since it never shows up in the "My Devices" panel in my Cortana app.

If anyone has a solution to this, it would be much appreciated!

Hi Greg

I really apricate your help, but none of the fixes provided worked and I don't think any of the people in those forms are experiencing the same issues as I am.

At this point I'm debating just taking it in to be serviced.

Did you try the troubleshooting in the Owner's Manual I provided you?

Can you contact Harman Support to see if this is a known issue?

Hi,

I have the same problems like you, it seems that second step auth on my Microsoft account is messing up the link between my Microsoft account and the invoke. Definitely it is a change that Microsoft did because it used to work fine, I hope you find the solution.

All 3 of my Harmon Kardon Invoke devices stopped working in the past few days. They no longer control Insteon lighting, and they wont even respond to simple commands like set a timer, or set an alarm.

Has Microsoft pulled support for the product?

I’m experiencing the same problem with mine as well. Started yesterday and I couldn’t get it to set an alarm like I do every night. Tried setting it up again and still has the same problem.

I have similar issues with both of my Invokes.  Simple commands (e.g., reminders, alarms), playing Spotify, and making outgoing calls linked to my Skype account stopped working a few days ago. Can someone help with a fix?  Others are posting same issues on reddit:

It looks like there's some sort of global outage of invoke devices right now. I tried resetting one of my invokes yesterday and during setup it kept saying my wifi password was incorrect. It did work with a different network, although it still doesn't work any skills other than wwe search, which is the global outage mentioned.

I don't have second step auth and mine is having issues.

I was able to fully setup my invoke after resetting it, and it fixed nothing. However, I was only to set it up using my Lumia 950, my desktop (1903), both laptops (one 1903 other 1909), my iPhone 11, and my mom's s9 couldn't finish setup. My other Lumia, the 735 running W10 also couldn't do it.

I think only phones that come out of the box with W10 Mobile can do with no problems, but it could only work on Lumia, not the HP Elite X3 or other manufacturer brands. Maybe pcs running W10 1809 or older can do it but I don't have any.
