Turning off the Mail app in Windows 10

I want to know how to turn off the Mail app in Windows 10. I do not want to uninstall/delete the app. I simply want the option of shutting it down. I do not understand why this question remains unanswered. For Microsoft: If the app cannot be shut down, simply say so--and fix it so it can, without the draconian measures. Thank you.
