Reinstalling Windows 10 on Parallels

I use Parallels on my Macbook Pro so that I can use Windows. When I found that the virtual machine (PVM) was grown so large (over 400 GB), I deleted it. I thought I had a snapshot to recover from, but I didn't.

Anyway, I have reinstalled Windows 10, but I'm being asked to activate it by entering a product key. I don't know what it is as this was an upgrade from Windows 8.

From the screenshot:

it looks like if I installed Windows 10 Home instead of Windows 10 Home Single Language, then it might be activated, but I don't know if this is right. Can you help please?

Thanks

Phil

Hi Phil,

What I advise for you to do is to download a media creation tool and reinstall Windows 10 and pick the appropriate edition of Windows. You can download the tool here on this link and you can find additional instructions and what to check to prevent this issue from happening in the future. For help if you encounter any other activation issues, please refer to this link.

Update me if there are improvements.

Hi Ian

Thanks for the help.

I followed the link and downloaded the media creation tool, but it didn't allow me to choose a particular edition of Windows, just the Single Language version - see photo:

On the web page, it says "After downloading and installing, the tool will walk you through how to set up Windows 10 on your PC. All Windows 10 editions are available when you select Windows 10, except for Enterprise edition.", but as you can see, it didn't. I thought I'd get the option of choosing?

Thanks for the update, Phil. You need to completely reinstall Windows 10 for you to be able to reinstall the OS completely. Under the link I've sent you above, click Using the tool to create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) to install Windows 10 on a different PC and then click Using the installation media you created for complete instructions on how you can use the Media Creation Tool.
