Hello,

We appreciate your quick response to Ruz San's query. We understand that you are having some issues with the screensaver on your Windows 10 PC, and wanted to get it resolved. To get you sorted, we recommend that you follow the methods below.

Method 1

Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter. Running the automated troubleshooter will help you resolve misbehavior caused by the updates installed. You may install the automated troubleshooter here.

Method 2

Run the System File Checker (SFC) tool.

Windows may not behave as expected when a system file or some system files are missing or corrupted. What we recommend is that you run a System File Checker (SFC) tool. SFC will help you scan your system files and to repair missing or corrupted system files. You may check the link below for instructions on running the SFC.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

Method 3

Perform a clean boot. A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows 10. You may check the steps provided in this link.

Your response to the solution will be highly appreciated.

We appreciate your earnest effort to get the issue resolved. Since the issue still persists, we strongly suggest that you reset the Windows Update Components. Windows update is an Important component of Windows. By Windows updates one can get: new drivers for the hardware devices installed in the computer, security patches, known bugs fixed, and major updates and upgrades. But some issues, generally related directly or indirectly to some corruption in system files, windows update may not work properly. Resetting the Windows update components may help you resolve the issue. You may check the link below for reference.

We will be waiting for your update.

Now the screensaver is working with a black screen, but it is NOT screen saving :(
It put my computer to sleep, which is exactly what I don't want it to do.

Since the issue still persist, we recommend that you run the System Update Readiness tool or DISM. It may help you to fix some Windows corruption errors. You may simply follow the steps below:

  1. Right-click on the Start icon; then select Command Prompt (Admin). If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
  2. Type the following command, and then press Enter after each command:
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  3. Close the command prompt and restart the PC and check if it works.

We look forward to your earnest response.

I followed all your instructions but no luck. When I go to screensaver this is what I get. No Preview available.

I can change the time and ' apply' and the window with the bubbles appear but it doesn't work.

Here are the screen shot of the attempted repair.
