Group Calendar (Your Family) doesn't show up on iPhone native calendar anymore

In the last week (2Sep2020) we used to be able to look at our family calendar on Outlook.com using the native Calendar app on the iPhone.  Suddenly in the last few days, its disappeared on all our phones.  This is how our family keeps track of our things like work, sports, appointments etc.

I see its there under "Groups" now called "Your family".  All the events are still there.  Under the help it says this:

  • What happened to the old shared family calendar?

The old version of the calendar was recently retired in an upgrade to a new version that allows users to send invites and works better with the new group and mailbox. All of the events from the old calendar were moved to the new calendar.

****?!?!?  I really hate the Outlook app as it keeps losing our password for our IMAP accounts from our ISP and is hard to use.

There is no way to get this working?  Seems like some form of "vendor lock in".  Very sad.  We will have to find another app/system for our family calendar if this can't work.

Hi Guru,

When I asked my contacts on the product team about the missing calendar, they told me they were investigating (at the time, i still had my family calendar) - they did not say it was moving. :(

Update: The group calendar should be available in the Outlook mobile app, but is not available in the native calendar app.

Groups in Outlook.com do not sync to outlook desktop - I'm not happy with it in groups. I'll pass your comments along with mine.

I have the same problem, I suppose from yesterday too.

Unfortunately, the way how Familiy calendar is implemented in outlook.com has been changed, somewhat surprisingly if I may add :(

The explanation of what has happened can be figured out from Tip and last answer in Frequently asked questions section here:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/use-shared-family-calendars-in-outlook-com-7d21512a-eac5-4597-816b-6bf5ff8554ed

As per my testing, change that was made in outlook.com “backend”, currenly prevents using Family calendar (now called Your family) in:

  • iOS native calendar app
  • Windows 10 native calendar app
  • Outlook

The only way to acccess it in IOS are:

  • Outlook Mobile app
  • outlook.com web, but it only works on iPad and not in iOS

Have to admit that I am also annoyed by this change...

Same here. My family has relied on this calendar since 2012 when got out Windows 8 mobile devices.

The calendar that has our whole families lives, each sporting event, each doctors appointment, college classes, family functions, etc, removed from all of our personal devices.

Even worse, "Your family" doesn't even show on Microsoft's own native calendar app.

I now left scrambling to find a new solution. ;(

I am able to pull in the calendar using the Outlook Mobile App or outlook.com

This isn't going to work as a long term solution. Others will need to now install the mobile app, and pin the website on their PCs to make this functional. They will no longer be able to use one location that is native to any device they are on. Complicates what should and was a great feature. I had something that worked for my family and kids ranging from 18 to 6. Any device they had, they could add their account, see and access the family calendar, gone!

Now even on PC we lost the integration of our reminders we set for each event to appear int he notification center, unless we have the outlook.com calendar page open.

Just like others, I am severely disappointed.

Right now it is only visible in Outlook on the web and Outlook mobile app - not in desktop outlook or other apps.

Un-f'ing believable Microsoft. Rolling out a major change like this with no warning that completely breaks a perfectly working feature. The Family calendar just vanishes from iOS native Calendar app, Outlook desktop and Windows 10 Calendar app. How inept can you possibly be? Apparently extremely inept. Believe it or not, users actually rely on appointments showing up on all of these devices. MUST FIX ASAP!!
