Is Windows XP now abandonware???

So now its been almost 4 years since Microsoft pulled the plug on Windows XP, and now im wondering if Microsoft still has the copyright to Windows XP? And if it's not, then why is Microsoft Update still up till this day?
Windows XP is not abandonware.  Your second sentence can't be parsed, at least not by me.

MS still owns XP, and it isn't abandonware. Microsoft Update is still up for XP for those who still use it and might need to download existing updates (after a reinstall for example.) They aren't making any new updates, or recommending anyone actively use the OS, but it still works, and you can download the updates that were available as of the day XP was retired.

No, it is not abandonware.

MS still release updates for Windows Xp for governments, businesses, etc that pay to get updates. Several programs do not run on newer OS system and this is why many are still using it by paying for support.

Plus many ATM machines run on Windows Xp, This is why there are still updates being release for it. Some have used the registry key to get these updates from MS for Windows XP POSReady.
