Cumulative updates - April 14 2020

This is a summary of the cumulative updates released on April 14th 2020.

  1. Windows 10 1903 and 1909 - KB4549951, Build No. 18362.778 and 18363.778
  2. Windows 10 1809- KB4549949, OS build 17763.1058*

Servicing Stack Updates

It is recommended to install Servicing stack updates before installing the cumulative updates. This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) makes sure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates

  • For Windows 10 1903/1909, use this link for 32-bit and this link for 64-bit download(KB4552152)

Known Issues

Symptom Workaround
After installing KB4493509, devices with some Asian language packs installed may receive the error, "0x800f0982 - PSFX_E_MATCHING_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND."
  1. Uninstall and reinstall any recently added language packs. For instructions, see Manage the input and display language settings in Windows 10.
  2. Select Check for Updates and install the April 2019 Cumulative Update. For instructions, see Update Windows 10.

Note If reinstalling the language pack does not mitigate the issue, reset your PC as follows:

  1. Go to the Settings app > Recovery.
  2. Select Get Started under the Reset this PC recovery option.
  3. Select Keep my Files.

Microsoft is working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

There are no known issues for KB4549951. 

Known issues in this update

Symptom Workaround
We have seen social media reports related to KB4549951 that mention Bluetooth, a stop error with a blue screen, and other related issues.

To date, we have not seen these issues reflected in telemetry, support data, or customer feedback channels. We continuously investigate all customer feedback and are closely monitoring this situation.

I did use Windows Update Assistant.  I got this result:  Thank you for updating to the latest version of Window 10.  I got the message notification: Congratulations! You have latest Windows 10.

What additional information do I need to give to you?

If you are on version 1909, you would get the "thank you" message. Update assistant is only beneficial for updating to a newer release of Windows. Media Creation tool allows a reinstall of Windows keeping everything.

Please download Media Creation Tool from the link below and select Upgrade this PC at the first screen.

Just finishing my desktop, the latest to fail after release of April Cumulative update. Laptop seems to be behaving since reinstalling earlier in the month. Downloaded and installed a Cumulative update successfully last night.

KB4550945 installed successfully, but broke my multiple displays, second monitor is getting signal, but the screen turns black after 3 seconds.

Any idea what the problem might be?

What does Media Creation Tool do?  I do not want to ruin my Acer Aspire X computer.  I am scared.

Hi

It reinstalls latest version of Windows 10 and follows up with any updates. It takes quite a few hours all in but was successful on my HP Laptop and just finishing off my Acer desktop. It allows you to keep all your files, downloaded apps and internet browser settings etc. Apart from a few confirmations and restarts at the end theres nothing much for you to do.

Just finished my Acer X1930 desktop and everything working well.

Way to go as seems March and April updates have caused corruption to the Windows 10 operating system.

I'm no expert and it is a pretty easy process. It takes time and you need to be patient. Good Luck

Sounds good, however you say it follows up with the updates, will they not be corrupted? Or if they are already included in the media created will they not also be corrupted? If not would this not be the way for everyone on here to get their 1909 back working again?  Sounds like an efficient way to spend the time you say. 

Is this like a clean install?

Hi Paul,

It's a clean update. I did my HPlaptop and my Acer desktop. Both installed fine as did the subsequent updates which was a security and cumulative update.

What a mess ! Since yesterday night I can't boot normally, in Safe Mode, or any other fashion.  All files in Documents Folder have vanished. I tried to troubleshoot this major problem and nothing works. Sorry, but I'm so frustrated about this.  To summarize, Windows 10 won't load.  I get that Critical … error code.  None of the options along Safe Mode are working, except for Prompt Mode.  Repair Windows is not working.   tried reverting to the last stable mode and it did nothing. I tried uninstalling the last update and it didn't do noting. The Asus recovery partition is empty. I just don't know what to do from there.

Can you guys get your heads together ? All these updates to windows 10 since January has ruined my HP Pavilion gaming laptop. I spend more time waiting to get into windows from hello login screen ! Three times these updates have crashed my system to the point i have had to reset the machine using a flash drive. Only to recieve another update ! And my system failures start all over again. I have been a windows user since windows 95 platform i have to say windows 10 is THE WORST YOU MADE. I JUST WANT SIMPLICITY BACK!! I dont want all your updates yet i am forced to take them in windows 10. I read up to find ways to fix my laptop after every update and am horrified to see that microsoft claims to not know of the issues we are reporting. I mean seriously. Why do i have to sit in front of a laptop that forces updates and spending more time rectifying issues such as 100% Disk usage and or 100% memory usage. And having to do research online to fix the issue. I am afraid to shut down my system these days because another dreaded update. Once again  i have sat here for nearly two hours just trying to log in after my system forced an accumalative update!!!! And having to use a flash drive yet again for the fourth time to reset my windows OS. Losing yet again all my files. Why should we have to keep fighting to use our systems ? Only to have them ruined by another update. Spending more time in 2 months trying to get on my system fixing my system than i am able to enjoy using my system! Frustrated in Michigan.

Not to mention all the devices and programs lost in the shuffle ! 

I miss just double clicking and downloading ...

This update gave me the blue screen of death. Clean install did not work. I cant find my windows 10 USB any where. Bummer dudes.
