How do I correct my email address as I have misspelt my email address while setting up a Microsoft account?

* Original Title: Benny1066

Please can someone help me!

Recently bought a nokia lumia 735. When setting up a Microsoft account I foolishly misspelt my email address. I click on "typo in your email address? fix it here", and am directed to log into my microsoft account. I do so, and am then directed to "Use a different email address as your primary alias". I've changed my email address to the right one several times, and am told eac htime that it can take 48 hours for the update to appear on all devices. However, when I then go to "email and acccounts", the typo remains.

What do I need to do? I'm going round and round and it's incredibly frustrating.

The account on the phone won't automatically update.

What you need to do is delete the bad address from your account. You can do this by visiting account.live.com and clicking manage aliases. Remove the bad email address.

Once that's done, go on your phone to Settings>email + accounts. Hold your finger down on the Microsoft account until a menu appears and choose "sync". The sync should fail and have an "attention required" underneath the email address. Now tap the Microsoft account and you should be given an opportunity to correct the information for the account.

If that doesn't work, you'll need to factory reset the phone in Settings>about>reset your phone, and sign in with the correct email address.
