Windows 8 BSOD with error message "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you."

Original Title: Windows 8 Infinite startup loop with blue screen of death

Today I was playing GTA IV normally, when suddenly my PC suddenly started to make a very loud and annoying noise, and the screen showed a blue background and some white streaks across the screen. I thought this was a bug, so I force shutdown the computer. When I started back up, the computer booted up as normal, then instead of a logon screen, a blue screen of death appears. It flashes an error code for a very short time, so fast that is almost unreadable. It then shuts down, and does the same thing. Now I am stuck in an infinite loop. I have searched online for a fix, But none of them actually had the exact same problem.

I have a 1 week and 5 day old HP Pavilion 500-004a, so it is still under warranty.

What should I do to fix this problem?

EDIT: By using a high speed camera, I've figured out the entire message.

This issue could have occurred due to corrupt System files. Try the steps listed here and check if it helps.

Method 1:
I would suggest you to check if you can boot the computer to Safe Mode. If yes, you may perform a System Restore and check if it helps

Step 1:
I would suggest you to refer the article and check if it helps.
Windows Startup Settings (including safe mode)

Step 2:
If you are able to boot the computer to Safe Mode, I would suggest you to perform System Restore and check if it helps.

a. Press Windows and R key to open run box.

b. Type rstrui and hit Enter.

c. Perform System restore to a restore point before the recent Windows Update was installed. Check if it helps.

Note: When you perform System Restore to restore the computer to previous state, programs and updates you installed are removed.


You may also disable automatic restart from Safe Mode to collect complete Blue Screen error message. To disable automatic restart follow these steps.

a. Press Windows key + X.

b. Click on Control Panel, click System and Maintenance, and then click System.

c. Click Advanced System Settings.

d. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

e. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Startup and Recovery.

f. Under System failure, click to clear the “Automatically restart” check box.

g. Click OK, and then click OK.


Method 2:
If you are not able to boot the computer, I would suggest you to perform Automatic Repair from WinRE and check if it helps.

To perform Automatic Repair, follow these steps.

a. Boot using Windows 8 Installation disk and perform startup repair.

b. Insert the disk into DVD drive and restart the computer.
c. Press F12 key (typically this is F12, but it can differ between computer manufacturers) and choose the drive that you inserted the installation media into.

d. Once the Windows Setup window appears click Next.
e. Click on Repair your computer.
f. Click on Troubleshoot and then select Advanced Options.
g. Click on Automatic repair.
h. Follow the on-screen instructions and finish the repair.

Unfortunately neither of the solutions worked. Method one would not work because I am not even able to reach the logon screen (shown in the video). Method two would not work because I do not have a Windows 8 Install disc. Windows 8 came pre-installed on the PC. Oh, and my name is Ryan.
