USB HID device issue after September 10, 2019—KB4515384 (OS Build 18362.356) windows update

Hello,

After the USB HID device issue after September 10, 2019—KB4515384 (OS Build 18362.356) windows update, my HID device is no more recognized. It is listed by the usbview.exe application but the application I use to manage this device cannot see it.

I also notice that in the Device Manager a libusb-win32-devices item containing my device is now listed:

Does anyone have the same kind of issue?

Hello! I am an Independent Advisor, I would love to help you out!

The first thing I would recommend is to try to rollback the windows update and see if that is really what is causing the problem. To do that you can:

Start > Settings and click on Update & Security.

Click the Recovery link on the left and then click on Get started under 'Go back to the previous version of Windows 10.'

If the issue is resolved after rolling back then I would then suggest to submit feedback to Microsoft by pressing the windows key + f and filling out all information.

Hope this helps!

I checked on another computer that has not been updated since one week. On this computer, my HID devices do not appear under the libusb-win32 devices item in the Device Manager but under Human Interface Devices. It seems that the issue is linked to the libusb-win32 which has been installed september 10 on my computer. Unfortunately, I cannot find a way to remove that update.

This driver update seems to be causing problems with my barcode reader 3nstar SC205. I did not find a way to remove the updated driver. I tried de rollback driver option and it worked for a few hours until it updated again.

It seems that the problem is related to Vendor ID and Product ID of the USB HID Device. After changing the Vendor ID and Product ID of my USB HID Device, to registered, the device was successfully recognized and work as it should be.

Rofl, they told me i was crazy because my hid keyboard and mouse stopped working and became laggy and unresponsive basically unusable. That its a driver error and i was just too stupid to understand. Rollback fixed it with a ps2 keyboard/mouse. Usb works again!

I managed to fix this same problem by

- opening 'Device management'

- right-clicking 'libusb-win32 devices \ BETTER_USB_HS'

- selecting 'Update driver' option

- selecting option 'Search drivers from your computer'

I was presented with a a list of two drivers - 'BETTER_USB_HS' and 'USB input device'

I selected 'USB input device' driver and clicked a couple of OK's - and my barcode reader started working!

(I tried to translate option and driver names accurately from Finnish - I hope they are close enough)
