FSX SP2 installation says it requires English version

Hi,

I have just installed FSX onto a new PC direct from the original DVDs, and added Service Pack 1.

When I attempt to add Service Pack 2, it says "MS FSX SP2 requires the English version of FSX" and quits.

There is some advice relating to this on FS Insider at http://www.microsoft.com/Products/Games/FSInsider/tips/Pages/FSXSP2-BogusErrorMessageonSetup.aspx
However, the fix does not apply - when I looked at the registry, the required entry was already there, and was correct.

I have tried uninstalling and starting again, to no avail.

I have installed this product several times to different machines over the years (including on my previous Win7 machine), and have never had this error before!

Can anyone help in getting SP2 installed?

Thanks,

Iain.

Hi,

I would suggest you to follow the steps in the mentioned below:

Method 1:

Follow the steps in the link and check if the issue persists:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/258496/

Method 2:

You replace the registry entry which you have checked for once and then try installing the SP2.

You download and install standalone service pack 2 for Flight simulator x:

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=8986

if the issue still persists I would suggest you to contact FSX (Flight simulator x) support for further assistance and you may also post your query in  Flight simulator community. Please visit the link to contact FSX (Flight simulator x) support for assistance:

I have tried everything on all the threads related to this issue to no avail. FSX SP2 refuses to install because it believes that my FSX installation is not in English.

Other FSX users on the forums claim that they simply run FSX without the Service Packs but my add-ons require them to be installed.

Any thoughts?

Jerry
