Windows Media Player 12 does not sync my MP3 Library files to Flash drives or USB SD cards in USB adapter.

Windows Media Player 12 on Windows 8.1 DOES NOT sync MP3 Library files to Flash drives or USB SD cards in USB adapter.

[NOTE:  Windows Media Player 11 on Windows XP DOES SYNC the same MP3 Library files to the same storage devices?]

The MP3 Library files are on a Micro SDHC 32GB card inserted directly into a slot In my HP Split x2 PC.

In Windows Media Player 12 Playlists do not transfer and individually selected MP3 files do not transfer/sync.

After Sync, the message when Windows Media Player 12 Playlists do not transfer/sync is:

And when 'Click here' is selected the message that is "There are no sync results to show."

In Windows Media Player 12 individually selected MP3 files do not transfer/sync.

After Sync, when 'Click here' is selected there is an embedded error message in the red x next to each file

Hi Tom,

I would suggest you to store the songs on the hard drive and then transfer it to flash drives. Later on, add these files to the local library and then try to sync it.

My PC has very little free space left (~34 GB ) on the internal Root Windows  C: drive because my PC is a laptop 2-in-1 with an SSD drive. 

So, as I mentioned in my first post, I can only store my ~20GB of MP3 files on a 32GB MicroSD card in a slot on my PC. I identify these as the source for my WMP 12 Library files.  This configuration works without any WMP 12 problems [except, of course, for Syncing].

For backup and archives purposes, I also keep a copy of my MP3 files on an external 1TB, USB connected, drive which I DO NOT identify as a source for my WMP 12 Library files.

I did follow the instructions in the reference link you supplied to "Set up a device to sync in Windows Media Player" without any problems.

Apologies in delay in response. I would appreciate if you could help me with more information.

 

-What is the make and model of the device that you are trying to sync? Does it show up in Windows Explorer?

 

As a workaround you may copy 2-3 music files to the HDD and try to sync. Keep us posted.

To answer your most recent questions:
 
-Make and model of the device that I am trying to sync – Any number of USB
flash drives.
 
-These USB flash drives do show up in Windows Explorer (and also in the
Windows Media Player Sync tab window).
 
I tried your workaround and copied an album of MP3 files that I put
in the Music folder on my SSD and these did sync to a flash drive I had
on-hand.
But, as I reported in an earlier exchange, when I sync MP3 files on
my external SDMicro flash drive card to any USB Flash drive an error
occurs and the files do not transfer to the USB drive.
 
Also, as I reported earlier, my (128 GB) SSD root C: drive (no HDD in my
PC) does not have enough free space for my 20+GB MP3 collection. 
And, I cannot free up space on this drive to accommodate my 20+GB MP3
collection.

FYI - I just tried to Sync to my wife's Sandisk Sansa Fuze Media Player and I got the same errors.

It looks like Windows 8/WMP 12 (for some inexplicable reason?) won't Sync my MP3 music files if these are not on my root C: drive (and XP/WMP 11 does Sync no matter where the MP3 files are stored).

It is not possible to directly Sync in Windows 8.1(WMP 12). As you were able to sync few files coping it to library directly.
