WIndows 10 Wi-Fi not turning on

So, i started up my laptop when i got home from school, and i noticed that my wi-fi was off. I thought, huh, that's weird... so i go to the wi-fi section of my system tray. i click on the box to turn wi-fi on, the clicking animation played, but then it got greyed out and i couldn't click it. i am currently hooked up to my modem and have tried reinstalling the drivers, updating, restarting, all that stuff- none of it worked. I REALLY need help as this is my school laptop.

Hi Tim,

Some computers have hotkeys or manual switches to turn off WiFI so those could be involved. Check with your system maker's support and forums.

Also be sure you are not somehow activating Airplane Mode. Check Start - Settings - Network & Internet - Airplane Mode - "Airplane Mode" set to Off and "Wi- Fi" devices set to On.

Check these Windows Troubleshooters :

Start - Settings - Update & Security - Troubleshooter - "Network Adapter", "Internet Connections", "Incoming Connections, & " Hardware and Devices".

Hello TimTamTimYT,

I'm Independent Advisor and Microsoft MVP, here to help you with your question.

Please run Network Adapter troubleshooter from Settings app > Update & security > Troubleshoot. See if it helps you.

If issue still persists, perform Network Reset:

1. Open Settings app, click Network & Internet > Status > Network reset link.

2. Now click on Reset button on next screen.

3. In confirmation prompt appearing next, click Yes.

Let us know if this helps!
