Visual Studio C script detected as Trojan virus

Hi,

I am trying to write a simple C code script on visual studio and it keeps getting detected as a Trojan:Win32/Ludicrouz.Z threat. Visual studio keeps timing out with the error that "operation did not complete successfully because the file contains a virus or potentially unwanted". I have reinstalled and installed VS2019 multiple times, and C++ works fine.  I dont know what the issue is.

I have the exact same error. I am using Visual Studio Community 2019 V16.4.5.

Just for a bit of context, I probably compiled my simple application ~1 or 2 weeks ago without any issue. I finally got back to working on it tonight and was greeted with this upon hitting F5.

This is the first google result of many attempts that have shown the exact same error, and yours is of a similar date to mine, making me think this may have been because of a recent update?

In either case, I found that changing from x86 to x64 under the "Solution Platforms" near the debugger made this issue go away.

Similar problem, different Trojan flagged for a newly re-imaged PC with freshly installed Window 10, all security updates, VSC, full WD scan, etc.  But had Trojan: W32/Fuerboos.D!cl flagged as soon as a simple C program to do "hello world".  Python is OK.  Struggled for quite some time by searching various topics on VSC and Fuerboos, stumbled on this thread and the suggestion of x86 -> x64 fixed the problem.  Seems like a WD issue then.

Got the same problem and it seemed to resolved itself after a couple updates a while back. Very likely a false flag triggered when VS compiled the code.

Visual Studio Community 2019 V16.5.3

For a simple hello world script

When pressed run, windows spits out tons of trojan messages such as this, ludicrouz.J and ludicrouz.Z what is the problem!!

Same Problem here. Simple "helloworld.c" is considered as Trojan:Win32/Fuery.C!cl.

C++ and C# Versions are ok.

N. B. VS 2019 has no project templates for plain C console program development. Could this be a clue?

Read MS VSC features, it said C is supported.  Just need to name the file with ".c" suffix.  Still believe it is a bug somewhere, especially window defender and VSC are both from Microsoft.  BTW, the workaround mentioned in this thread did work for me.

its a defender issue not a VS issue. Seems defender flags anything called xxx.c as a trojan. Thats clearly a mistake

Facing same problem. simple scanf function is considered to be harmful . and showing virus threat .
