How to Get Ride of Malvertising?

Hello,

How do I remove a Malvertisement? It keeps popping up in the lower right corner of my screen. Malwarebytes blocks the website that it tries to redirect to when I close it, but it still keeps popping up.

 Thank you!

Hi SamWickey

I'm Abram, fellow user and Independent Advisor.

You might want to try the following steps to see if this will solve your concern.

1. Open Malwarebytes
2. Select "Settings"
3. Then "Application"
4. Then scroll to "Notifications"
5. Drag action setting from "On" to "off"

I'm sure that will keep Malwarebytes from notifying me that it blocked a potential threat, however what I meant by my question, was..........How do keep the malvertisement from popping up?

 Thank you!

That's likely not a malvertisement, it's a web notification that you allowed at some point by selecting allow or yes when the browser asked if you'd accept notifications.

Yes the content may often seem like a malvertisement, and what you received when you were redirected undoubtedly was, but the notifications themselves are a "feature that most browsers added in the last few years and obviously never should have, since they're regularly abused just like any advertisement system.

The following article discusses these, how they work in the 4 most popular browsers and what can be done to disable them for specific websites or in some cases for all of them.

Yes, but that provided two different article links and no explanation.  Also, just like the OP I missed your post entirely, for whatever reason, so I left mine in place in hopes those additional details might make them notice.

Nothing at all wrong with your response, some posters simply don't absorb information in the same way as others.

The articles I've linked are self-explanatory. I would like to think that everybody should be able to understand the underlying connection....

Unfortunately lots of OPs nowadays seem to completely ignore input by users who do not carry the IMO ridiculous title 'Independent Advisor'.

But perhaps SamWickey really just somehow overlooked/missed my reply...

Oh well.

Good Morning,

I just seen your reply a few minutes ago. Thank you for that. I ended up turning the notifications off, clearing history, cache, and cookies and that seems to take care of it. Thank you!
