Norton and Build 18912

Installed 18912 on my three test computers.  Norton was rendered totally useless and crashed on all three.  Ran remove and reinstall from Norton without any luck.  Removed Norton and tried to re-install clean with no luck.  Then went into Regedit and removed all vestiges of Norton and re-started from the Norton web page and it still crashed.  On all three computers.

Yes, I dropped a note on the Norton site.  This is just an FYI for the folks here.  Yes, I know that this is "beta" software and I should expect things like this.  And I really do from MS lately.  (sigh)  I am just trying to head of the Flamers prior to them really getting started.

    Take care,

How did you remove Norton?  If you used Programs and Features you did not remove all of the code.  The code that was left is what causes problems with the Insider beta builds.  This has been reported on the forum for years.

To iterate.... I used the Norton Remove and Reinstall utility.  That did not work so I went into Regedit and removed all Norton and Symantec registry entries.  I got that list from a Norton programmer that I have known for many, many years.  Back when it was just Norton Utilities and Peter used to actually do some coding.

I very seldom use Programs and Features to actually remove a program that I really want to get rid of.  There is always way to much junk left behind  Kind of like removing Cortana from Windows10.

    Take care,

    Take care,

I installed 18908 without issue with Norton. I later had Norton check for updates and Norton totally died. Norton cannot even send back an error report to Norton.  I used all of the tools suggested by Norton to remove and re-install.  No joy.  This is not really a new issue with 18912, but still exists in 18912.

This is not an unexpected event.  Norton is not published to even try to keep abreast of W10 Insider changes.  It is a wait and see now.  Norton will catch up in due time.

I'm facing the same problem! last night a Norton support guy accessed my PC trying to fix this issue but with no luck.

They informed me that they will try again later today ( 08/06/2019) as they need to escalate it to a higher level technical team

Same here; Norton crashed when i started with Build 18912.

Followed the Removal & Reinstall routine - without success.

Norton's support site officially states that they do not support Windows Insider builds.

I'll revert to an earlier backup and put preview installs on hold for some time.

One of my insider computers with build 18912 is running Norton and I am not having any problems. I always run at least one insider  (fast) with Norton and I have not had a problem for last two years.

Just for info.

I found that 18908 was happy to install with Norton 360.  However, when I manually called for updates to Norton, Norton simply died.  I cannot even send an error report to Norton.  I have done most suggestions put forward by Norton to fix a failed install.

My regular W10 is just fine.  I am running a dual boot of W10 and W10 Insider.

Be nice to know if your Norton is running the latest updates.  I have since called for and got more Norton Updates on my regular W10.  I too have not had Norton issues with Insiders for a long time but Norton does not try to keep up with Insiders.  We may have been lucky.

I am running Norton 360 and I check at lease once a day on updates. Also, I always run Norton update before I download a new build.

Interesting.  Right now, I have a very dead Norton.  Will just wait it out. Thanks for letting me know.
