Bullet damage Halo vs. COD

People clearly agree that it takes more aiming skill in a Halo game to drop your enemy.  Just as it takes faster twitch reflexes to drop your enemy in COD.  What I find interesting it that the only game mode that resembles anything close to COD's bullet damage in REACH is the "Living Dead" game mode and it's always the mode with the most players.  SWAT doesn't count due to it being a headshot game and nothing more.

It would be really interesting to play Halo with COD's bullet damage to a tee.  Maybe even adapt to its control scheme too (personal preference).  I would bet that the first Halo game to do this has a shot at matching COD's daily player count.  Could this be done without compromising the integrity of Halo?  Perhaps not, but I would imagine the player count would at minimum double.

I'm not trying to offend anyone, I'm simply looking at both communities and trying to understand what the majority want to play as gamers.

I think it's incredibly pointless to try generalise and say that one game takes [random, pointless term] while the other takes [random, pointless term].

.

Playing Halo like CoD would not be my style, it would be the downfall of Halo in my opinion. Plus, if I want to play CoD I do just that, whereas if I want to play Halo I go do that instead. Halo has made some changes it felt it could to deal with CoD's popularity, but Bungie still tried to maintain the Halo style.

.

Halo: CoD wouldn't be a minor change or even a soon-to-be-accepted change like many grew to accept or like. It would be a pathetic, complete and utter sellout. I would rather play Halo for Halo and not have the series change further because too many people think Halo should be like CoD.

I play Halo because of the skill it takes to dispatch your enemy. If someone starts shooting me I always have a chance to kill them if I use skill.  In COD I die without even knowing where the shots are coming from.  Im not good with the twitch reactions. That's the reason I don't play swat either!

CoD is skim some shots off a finger or toe with the extreme aim assist and get the kill. Halo takes a lot more then that and I prefer games like Halo, Battlefield, and Gears because it takes much more skill to be good at and it's satisfying knowing I actually had to get good to be the top player in the game. To me CoD is about luck, cheap  KSR and having the OP weapons and perks because you played 200+ hours and there is no balance in those games.

CoD is slowly killing the FPS genre because of all the sales to the noobs who don't see it's the same game over and over and over and over companies the try to copy things from CoD in order to compete...... Even though I know it won't happen I wish Battlefield 3 would destroy MW3 this fall.

Battlefield has a good shot at it, but it'll take some pretty good decisions from their development team to make it happen.

Honestly I think BF bad company 2 is better then MW2 and BO easily but the fanboys of the world say it's CoD when there are much more quality shooters available.

I don't know anything about Battlefield but I think MW3 is starting to look like much of the same whereas Battlefield 3 looks like it might be well and ready to knock down out of the best FPS games.

.

However, because CoD is unreasonably popular because of people's fascination with it, it'll take careful management by the Battlefield team for it to really take a place above CoD.

I'm not asking what anyone likes best or what game should win this year.

However, it's clear that COD has this market cornered by a county mile.  This is based on player count and that's all that matters.  It's much more popular.  Roughly 5x more just on the 360 alone.

There are many reasons for this but the most obvious one is bullet damage.  I would love to see as an experiment, for 343 to add a game mode and maybe call it "Duty Calls".  Make the games bullet damage mimic COD's and with that include some tight, small and flankable forge maps.  Make sprint unlimited and make it the only AA.  Watch as this game mode dominates Halo Reach.

Games need gamers in order for companies to profit.  This added game mode won't compromise Halo anymore than Reach did with the series.

NO. I will be miserable if Halo conforms to COD. Its HALO for a reason.

it may be to late for that with the credit system rewarding players even after losing a game, the mindless grind for a higher rank instead of skill+EXP and adding "noobish" things like armour lock to aid new players >.>
