WIndows Update error 0xc800044e

Whenever I go to Settings and check for updates, the app says, "There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0xc800044e)". I've tried the solutions I've seen in the community and most of them regarded antivirus software, of which the only one I have is Windows Defender. I've been having this issue since, apparently, April 11th, which is when Windows Update said it last checked. What should I do now?

(If this is of use to you, I'm running the Creators Update}

Hello.

To address your concern with Windows Update, we suggest that you perform clean boot. It is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. Also, it helps eliminate software conflicts or an update or when you run a program in Windows. Check this article for more information. Also, we recommend that you run Windows Update Troubleshooter.

I tried the clean boot, and that didn't solve anything. When I tried the troubleshooter, it appears to have fixed the errors, but it doesn't actually fix them. Any other suggestions?

Thank you for your response. We recommend that you run System File Checker. It is  a command that you can use to scan all protected files and replaces damaged  or corrupted versions with the correct versions where possible. Check this article for more information.

I ran the System File Checker, and it said 'no integrity violations'. When I tired to check the updates, however, the error showed up again.

Got it! Let's try to refresh your PC. Refreshing your PC reinstalls Windows and keeps your personal files and settings. It also keeps the apps that came with your PC and the apps you installed from the Windows Store. You can check this article for reference.
