This is a new higher end Windows 7 Intel based i5 computer with 8GB of memory. I have been using the Windows Fax and Scan successfully before. When I went to receive a fax that area was grayed out. I lost all of my history of previous faxes. The name
with fax number directory was still there. I manually copied the few listings. I also found I could not send faxes. It seems that in the print directory the print to fax name looks different. But I can't be sure. It now says " fax, Microsoft shared fax
driver" .
I confirmed that the fax is operational and the wires are connected properly by going online via a dial up network. So, I would think it's in the fax program software.
I tried to remove and reinstall the program, but in the control panel under remove programs I couldn't find it. Also, I'm not sure where to get the program to reinstall. I do have the Windows 7 ultimate disk available.
I tried going to "Tools", then "Fax Settings". The blue circle circled and the window said, "Not Responding". Then it stopped. In other words, I cannot access the settings.
Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Windows Fax and Scan is located under the Windows Features.
- Click Start button
- Type windows features in the search box
- Click Turn Windows features on or off
- Locate Print and Document Services > click + to left to expand
- Uncheck Windows Fax and Scan
- Click OK
You will need to restart your computer and then perform the same steps except check Windows Fax and Scan to reinstall it.
Hope this helps
