Print Spooler will not start: Error error 0x800706b9

Windows could not start the Print Spooler service on Local Computer

error 0x800706b9: Not enough resources are available to complete this operation

Have upgraded (?) to Win 10. Cannot install printer, cannot install Hawking Print Server. Have removed all printers with the exception of the OKI I have been trying to install as I get message that driver is unavailable and uninstall fails. These were working beautifully on Win 8.1

I get message "Print Server

This doesn't work, either, as it is relies on the print spooler being started to add a printer, which is the entire problem: Print Spooler can't be started.

I tried every suggestion out there that I could find and called Microsoft tech support, which wanted me to go through all of the same processes.  They had no further ideas.  I ended up reverting back to Windows 8. Everything works fine, now.  Reverting back is fairly simple and built into 10...it's like Microsoft was expecting all this:

I'm going to wait on the 10 update until it has more of the bugs worked out of it.

Good luck

I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 in September. For the last 2-odd months, the system was running absolutely like a dream.

Then about 3 days back, the computer refused to print anything - not even exporting office docs to PDF. All printers in the "Printers and devices" are grayed out. Got to know Local Print Spooler was not running. I looked into the Services.msc, the spooler service is stopped, and trying to start it gives the error "error 0x800706b9: Not enough resources are available to complete this operation." I have tried all suggestions in this thread. Nothing works. This is a show-stopper for me, as I have to create PDF and print stuff every now and then.

P.S. About 2-3 days back I changed my antivirus from AVG Free edition to Kaspersky. I am not sure if these events are related.

Any quick solution would be most welcome.

I have exactly the same experience. In September I bought new copy of win10 and clean installed over old win7 after reformatting c drive.

All has been working well till couple of weeks ago and Print spooler now won't load with the error message.

Have tried all the solutions I can find to no avail so am now contemplating re installing !

have an old xp computer that must be nearly 10 years old and never had any real problem with it - apart from it's a bit on the slow side!

Thanks for the information, cleaned out "http" from the Registry and then had to turn on Print Spooler service. It is a two step process.
