Windows 7 Blue Screen Error 0x7E. Cannot boot into normal or safe mode.

·        Do you have a Windows 7 DVD?

I would suggest you to disconnect external hardware devices like printer, scanner etc and check.

I would suggest you to boot into windows recovery tool to access the windows recovery options and then perform a check disk as well as run a memory check to ensure that there are no errors on the hard drive as well to check for the RAM.

Method 1:

Run check disk.

a.       Boot into recovery tool. Follow the steps mentioned in the article to access recovery options.

b.      Once you have booted into recovery then, click on Command prompt.

c.       Typechkdsk volume:/r

d.      This will repair the bad sectors that are present on the hard drive.

Method 2:

Check for the RAM by using the memory diagnostic tool.

a.       Boot into the recovery tool as mentioned above.

b.      Click on Memory diagnostic tool option.

You can take the ownership of the files that are present in the computer so that you can copy them to the external hard drive.

Hello and thanks for the reply. Unfortunetly I was unable to get it to work. I have all external devices unpluged and even turned off the wifi switch.

When I type   chkdsk volume:/r      it tells me the drive, path or file name is not valid.

I have run the memory diagnostic tool several times over the past few days. It always says it is unable to find any problems and that the report will be avalible apon restarting windows.

Also I read to go to the command prompt on a forum for a simular problem that someone else had posted on this site. I not thinking today turned on the computer and did not hit F8 so it went to the screen to select safe mode, normal mode etc., and for some reason I told it to boot into safe mode with command prompt and it actually did. Thinking hey maybe this is a good sign this is where I decided to run what I read about whish was to type   sfc /scannow in command prompt. It started a scan, one that was taking a bit of time so I walked intot he other room. When I came back the screen was blank and it would not boot back into safe mode again. I tried going to the command prompt in the repair tool and typeing   sfc /scannow     and it tells me that it cannot run a scan because a repair has already begun and I need to boot into windows for the repair to take affect, which of course I cannot.

I have tried running teh debugging tool and it always goes to a black screen that says microsoft windows and it does nothing more.

I do have the recovery DVD but the only option it gives me is to reinstall the computer to out of box state wich means loosing everything, which I will be forced to do if all else fales, but I would really like to find a way to get it going without loosing everything. Are there any programs I can run on that hard drive from the computer I am currently on thru the usb adapter cable I have?

I have been suffering with this same problem, and have spent hours reading all the forums; i have tried everything and cannot get windows to start up. Without it starting up I am unable to removed the driver that i am very sure caused this problem.

This problem arised when i attempted to install/update the driver for my cell phone for the first time. My computer immediatly shut down and I haven't been able to get Windows to start up since.

When i attempt to boot the computer i am faced with the BSOD! when i F8 for safe mode and run the memory tests they detect no problems, when i run the startup repair it cannot find an issue either. I have tried the prompt commands ; bootrec.exe ,

From everything i've read the odds don't look good towards keeping my files. I would really like to avoid losing all my stuff if possible. Anyone know any tricks? I don't have a Windows 7 disc right now , would that be guaranteed to fix this problem? and would i lose all my files?

EDIT**

seen this; http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392 used the prompt commands to rebuild my bcd completely, when windows started up it gave me an option along with Start Windows Normally to "Last Known Good Configuration", i took that option and got access to my computer again.
