Table text turns to superscript

I'm using Word 2007. Every time I copy a table in one Word document and paste it into another, the text font in the table switches to Supercript! Cut and paste options are all set at "Match destination formatting". I must select the text and uncheck the Superscript check box in the Font formatting box.

Both Word documents use the Normal paragraph style.

That suggests you're pasting into a range whose format is set to superscript.

That's not especially relevant - unless someone has changed that Style's format to superscript. If the character where you're pasting has been superscripted, using "Match destination formatting" means whatever is pasted will be superscripted also.
