Windows 10 Roaming folder.

AppData is a folder in your Windows user account home folder, and Roaming is a folder within that. AppData\Roaming is where programs on your machine store data that is specific to your user account. The folder is normally hidden, and lives within your user account home folder. As an example, on one of my machines the full path would be:

c:\Users\Username\Appdata\Roaming

Where “Roaming” is a sub folder of “AppData”. Into that folder might be placed things like default templates, configuration files, and other support data that applications might use that a) might be different for other users of the machine, and b) aren’t your actual working documents.

Outside of large Windows installations like I’ve described, the concept of roaming simply isn’t used that much. At home I’d dare say it’s not used at all. OK, hidden folders can unhidden and then accessed.  At least 2 ways to do this.

You can search for "hidden folders" and the menu to show or hide hidden folders should come up.  You can also just go to File Explorer and load USER, Name of PC, Appdata, etc, and then click on VIEW and you should see the option to show hidden folders.

2 Methods....I can find the Control Panel Hidden Files and Folders choice.  Unfortunately checking the Show box and hitting Apply does not work.   Then I tried checking the Show Hidden Files/Folders box and hitting OK.  That did not work.

So I went to your method 2.  I went to File Explorer which opens.   OK, where do I "load" User, My PC, Appdata, etc.?  I am not familar with the use of the verb "load" in context of a PC command.  If you mean type it in the Search box that did not work either.

This may be the simplest way.  I just searched for "hidden" and up came the option for "Hidden Folder".  It was then just a simple choice.

For File Explorer, I just go to a folder and under VIEW, this offers up the option to show Hidden.

To access the User AppData and Roaming folders in Windows 10, do the Following:

• For File Explorer.
• Select the C drive.
• On the File Explorer Ribbon, switch to the View Tab.
• Expand the Option button, by clicking on the black small triangle below the button.
• Select Change Folder and Search Options.
• On the Folder Options dialog box select the View Tab.
• 
• Amend as shown above.
• Click the Apply and then the OK buttons.
• Now go the folder C:\Users\YOUUSERRNAME\AppData and you will see them enabled.

In order to keep your computer safe, remember to restore back the defaults.

To access the .appdata folder, type %appdata% into the search bar, which can be accessed by pressing or clicking the Windows button.
