Two important things to do before you start the update when it becomes available:

A) Create an image backup of your current version of Windows 10. Should the update fail you can restore the image to your disk drive and try again.

B) Disable any third party Anti-Virus software you may have installed!

How to install the update:

1) Go to Windows Update, by opening the start menu, click on ‘Settings’ / Updates & security or in the ‘Search box’ type: update' and open ‘Check for Updates’. This will prep your system with any last minute minor updates before you install the Creators Update.

Note: Laptop users should not do this while running on battery power only.

2) Next it should open a page on your default browser. To continue with the upgrade click on the link as shown below.

3) Click on the "Update now" button.

4) Click on the "Save as" button and save the file to your Downloads folder.

5) You can choose to run the file immediately or when you are ready double click on the file in your Downloads folder to start the update process.

6) If you see the message displayed below it means the upgrade is not yet available in your time zone. Otherwise skip to step #7.

7) If you see the message shown below the Creators Update is starting.

8) Your ready to upgrade, click on the Update now" button located in the lower left corner.

9) Your PC meets the requirements for the Creators Update, click the "Next" button to continue.

10) The update is downloading.

11) The update is installing.

12) To complete the update a "Restart" is required.

13) After the restart completes, you will prompted check and change (if necessary) your privacy settings. You can also choose your default apps (Let me choose my default apps / remove the check mark for an apps you don't want). Windows will finalize your setting and then you will see the Lock / Login screens.

14) after you login Windows will check and install any updates. Then you will see the "Thank you for updating ...." windows.

15) Exit the Thank you message window. That's it, your done installing the Creators Update, enjoy.

You also have the option to use Windows 10 Creators Update ISO:

The Creators Update is also available using the Media Creation Tool.

I looked at the list of updates and I only saw one feature of real value. Working hours may be changed from 12 hours to 18 hours.

As good as the working hours feature sounds, it's great for an environment where computers are used the same time every day, such as an office. It was a poor feature for someone that randomly uses their computer outside set hours, such as a college student. My daughter is a college student who lost a lot of work when her computer re-booted without warning to install updates. Hopefully allowing 18 hours will prevent that from ever happening again.

Microsoft needs to bring back location based printing, a valuable feature for mobile users. Windows 10 is all about mobility, right?

I use a laptop for my business and work from four locations. Location based printing was a great feature that allowed my computer to remember a default printer for each network I hooked up to. I was able to print from anyone of my four locations without choosing which printer to use. IT WAS AWESOME! I had the feature with Windows 7 Pro and initially had it when I updated to Windows 10 Pro. Unfortunately, Microsoft removed the feature from one of the Windows 10 updates.

Microsoft, please bring back location based printing for Windows 10. There was no excuse to take it away.

Just a while ago we had the new Visual Studio 2017. This doesn't even finish installing - by many users including me. The errors supplied can be traced back to the RC from November 2016.

What do I want to say with that? Microsoft is not good in releasing (reasonably) trouble free products. Even after extensive test rounds (like the W10 Insiders Preview) , these fail on very basic points. A half working Visual Studio 2017 is not a big problem; I still have a working VS 2015. But a half working W10 Creators Edition is a big problem. We all know what happened with the first Anniversary Edition - just search a bit on that.

I have disabled my Windows Update Process; a very effective way to postpone updates in every W10 version. I will not enable it again until after a few months.

The main change in the Anniversary Edition was that users can no longer get rid of the totally unnecessary Lock screen, yielding many likewise unnecessary clicks. None of the bugs and unpleasantries were solved. So I expect it will be the same with this Creators Update. If you don't use Cortana, Edge (but Firefox instead), the W10 Start menu (but the Classic Start menu instead) there's not much you will miss, except -no doubt- some nasty features, I expect more advertisements and pushing to use Microsoft products.

Sorry to spoil the party, but I think that postponing the Creators Edition as long as possible will be wiser than getting it today....

Using the media creation tool to make an iso for installation creates an old version of windows not the latest creators edition. Thats no good for me especially as the reason for creating the iso is to save bandwidth on a slow connection so i could install on two laptops. Now i have to download individually.

I have followed the above approach, but after rebooting a few times and getting to 32% it works for a while and then hangs for a while and then reverts to back to previous version.  But I do not get any error message telling me why the update failed.

I get to Step 11 but "getting your update ready" doesn't move beyond 0%. Then I get the "Something went wrong" screen quoting error code 0x8007041d
