Slow start up and Desktop displayed / ready delay Windows 7 HP.

Original title : I am using Windows7 home basic, and recently my computer takes a long time to start , and after that it takes longer time to display the desktop and icons to work properly. Please give a solution..

I am using Windows7 home basic, and recently my computer takes a long time to start , and after that it takes longer time to display the desktop and icons to work properly.

That is the desktop remains dumb for a long time, no Icons or takk bar no start button is displayed. Thus my laptop does not work for a long time say 2 mins.

I am afraid that it will result in system crash and if that happens I will loose many valuable informations.

I have kaspersky2012 , malwarebytes antimalware. Not interested to use Microsoft security essential as it has many negative reviews.

The main problem is my computer does not work for a long time after startup inspite of having very less number of programs to load at the beginning.

Please help...

Answer
Hi,

1. What was the recent hardware or software change made to the computer?

Note: it is not recommended to have more than 20 Megabytes of data on the desktop, you may have shortcuts for each file, however there should be no large files or executables stored on the desktop as the computer reads the contents of the desktop at start up while it boots up before your Home screen shows up.
Method 1

Optimize Windows 7 for better performance

You may also refer to, 'Don’t settle for slow' in the link mentioned above.
Method 2

Unexpectedly slow startup in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2

If you still face issues then please start the computer in clean boot and check if your issue is caused by a third party application.

Note: Once you complete all the necessary troubleshooting steps, please follow step 7 from the article mentioned above to start the computer in normal mode.
Hope this helps.
