Could you remove something ?

When I start my computer I see a large picture where I need to enter my password right?

Before the update I could just push a button and I could enter my password.

After the update windows FORCES me to click on the "little story about that picture" before I can enter my password. After I enter my password, microsoft edge opens the url about that picture.

I understand why Microsoft want to do that...They probably want more people to use Miscrosoft Edge.

I find this very annoying...Just let me login! Without the forced redirect to microsoft edge!

Thank you

Hi, i just recently rebooted my computer, there was NO indication like normal saying "reboot and install updates" or something like that, but when it rebooted it decided to do an update, now i cant use my computer at all as it keeps saying ''We couldn’t complete the updates. Undoing changes''

Over and over and never boots to Windows, i have tried all that I can from your (lack of a better explanation) out dated and **** FAQ'S, and am now doing a system restore which is taking a long time as always (i own a fast computer btw) and will lose all my data that i didn't get a chance to backup, thanks once again Microsoft for being sucky and making ppl pay for a crappy OS, no wonder ppl have gone away from Microsoft and started using freeware OS's, this **** shouldn't happen EVER!!!

Hi,

Did you actually try to click anywhere in the empty space of that large picture?

(This should just show the bar and button where you can enter your password.)

I hope this helps.

When I try to sign in to MS Solitaire collection the error code 1170000 comes up.  "We could not sign you into XBox live".   There is a link too, but it takes me to a non operative page.

Yes I did multiple times...

At the moment it works fine again (no redirect anymore)

To me it looks like sometimes they turn it on and sometimes turn it off. Meaning sometimes clicking on the picture works and sometimes it doesn't (and therefore are forced to click on the image search)

I installed the new Cumulative Update last night.  Once again, I took an hour for it to finish installing, which is much longer than I believe should be the norm.  On top of that, there were a couple other small updates that were downloaded before my laptop got around to downloading the Cumulative Update, but it would not even bother with installing those updates before it got done with the Cumulative Update.  There really needs to be a way to make it so that updates that are downloaded first get installed first.

Also, during installation of the Cumulative Update, the progress percentage actually dropped several times and it had to work its way back up again.  At one point installation was at 100% and then it dropped all the way down to 0%!!  All this had to happen just before I went to sleep, and I ended up staying up longer than I should waiting for this to finish.

Finally, when I turned on my laptop this morning, after entering my password there was a black screen, followed by a blue window asking me to set up several features, like Windows Hello (which I used to use but don't anymore).  This has never showed up for me before.  I clicked on "Skip for now" and it took me to my normal desktop screen, but I can't help but feel this will happen again when I turn on my laptop tomorrow.  Could you please stop trying to force these little "ease of access" features down on us?  I get they can be helpful to the right people, but I think we should be able to access them on our own time; dumping the options on us when starting up is rather inconvenient.

With all the issues caused by bad updates, how do I decide to let an update install?

I haven't done a complete backup for a while and would like to do one before I allow my computer to restart and finish installing this update.

My question is: Can I backup my C: Drive AFTER my system has notified me that it wants to "Update and restart" or "Update and shutdown"?

Looking at what people are saying here Microsoft has done nothing to prevent a repeat of the damage wrought by their previous horrendous updates. They appear to be simply ignoring the damage they have done and certainly seem  to care little or nothing for their customers. This is totally unacceptable behavior which unfortunately we can do little about other than to permanently block their updates. Personally there is little I nor any other individual can do to hurt Microsoft's huge profits but I can make a little stand. So next week I have a birthday in the family. the plan was to gift an XBox and games. That is now off the cards and a Playstation has been purchased. This trend will continue into the future. not a lot but my little fightback.
