New Surface Pro 6 - Office 365 Business Premium - Login - Microsoft account not found

I bought a new Surface Pro 6. I tried logging in with my Microsoft credentials used for office 365 business premium. I am the Admin. Same login I use on MacBook pro. I get message Microsoft account not found. I then Call support line. the guy says I have to have a gmail or other type of Microsoft account in order to get into the surface. I asked why and he said if he told me he would be fired. I will be returning the surface pro 6 today to the Microsoft store. It appears they do not allow you to use your own domain for credentials.

Austin Expert was a tech support scammer. Don't call that phone number.

I suggest you create a local login for your SP6. You can then sign in to your
O365 account and download office.

The answer to the problem is to make sure you buy a Commercial Surface Pro 6 and not a consumer model. I had to return mine. I found that out after I called the number and gave them my social security number. /s.

Well, yes and no. Consumer SP6 comes with Windows Home. You CAN purchase an
upgrade to Windows Pro -
- and then you can login/join a domain. if you aren't actually joining a domain,
you can log in with a local account or Microsoft (consumer) Account on a Windows
Home computer and still use O365 Business Premium with hosted email and you can
login to your O365 account and download and use the apps.
