How do I completely remove Meet Now

but this raises the question: why did it suddenly appear on my taskbar today after a reboot when update KB4580364 was installed on 8/11/2020 and the machine has been rebooted a dozen or more times since?

and another question: will it be rolled into another cumulative update in future?

If you carefully read the KB4580364 article, you will see that it is saying: "In the coming weeks, you will be able to easily set up a video call ...", so this new feature is rolled out gradually to users who installed this Preview Update.

I have not installed this Preview Update, but installed the final KB4586781 update.

Insofar I don't see any Meet Now icon on the taskbar, but cannot guaranty that it will not show up at a later time.

it seems that I cannot uninstall 4580364 - it's not listed in the Uninstall an update dialogue.

I also have KB4586781 installed

Meet Now has been integrated into the OS. It is part of a128KB update to a Windows System component  (Windows Shell Experience Host) that remains a part of the OS. For this reason there will be no uninstall for it and it will continue to be in future builds/cumulative updates of Windows 10 unless the feature goes into a different direction. There should be no noticeable increased consumption of resources. It is basically a set of shortcuts to the local or web version of Skype (if installed/not installed) using your default browser (if supported) to start or join meetings with an existing account or a guest account. . Hiding or setting the system icon value to no, would be the proper way to remove it from the taskbar tray, if you have no use for it.

imagine not reading even the first post but continuing to post your worthless reply to everyone who posts anything about removing meet now. how dense are you are that you don't get that we don't like things on our pc we don't use or ask for?

We don't want to hide it. My pc has a specific purpose and it isn't to have a skype shortcut on my taskbar. I want it gone.!

Doesn't matter that it's a shortcut, if I needed a shortcut on my desktop I would put one there myself.

For those that find it convenient, they keep it enabled. For those that do not, they disable it. Just because you do not like the answer, does not mean I misunderstood the question. Please read and comprehend what was already written. As already explained and will explain further, it is a frame/flyout integrated into the Windows shell like many others you may or may not like or use. This is similar to People, Cortana, Task View, Action Center and all other system-level icons. There is nothing to uninstall. Whatever is integrated would have to be stripped out of the compiled executable/dynamic link library to be completely removed. All you can do is disable it through one or more means. If you do not want to manually disable it, you can do it by user or system policy, like any system admin would. I have provided this in the below registry file (reboot required to take effect).

If you find Windows features integrated into the shell unbearable you can always use a third party shell like a classic start menu to replace the shell that comes with the latest versions of Windows 10.
