Windows 7 ultimate service pack 1 (64 bit) standalone update installation stuck

I've downloaded the standalone installation package for Windows 7 ultimate service pack 1 (64 bit) but its stuck at approx. 55% for nearly an hour and a half. It hasn't yet restarted or prompted me to restart my computer and when I did it didn't shut down and I had to power off my laptop by long pressing the power button. What should I do??

1. Do you get any error code?
2. Did you tried installing Windows 7 SP1 through Windows Update?
3. Do you face any issue while installing other updates?


Method 1:
I would suggest you to reset Windows Update Components and check if you can install Windows 7 SP1.

Method 2:
If the issue persists, I would suggest you to set the computer in clean boot and then try to install Windows 7 SP1.

By setting your system in clean boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue.
