GameBar Presence Writer.exe + GamingServices? Why can't I get rid of it?

Hello.

Sorry in advance for being a bit hotheaded.

Why is it that Windows 10 (Microsoft) is forcing these services down my throat when they have absolutely no reason to be running?

W

They have absolutely no reason to be running.

The GameBar Presence Writer causes my games to have Microstutters - My only fix is to manually close down the service everytime I start a game. If Im playing games like League of Legends that means me shutting it down before each individual game, cause it starts by itself.

The other one GamingServices and GamingServicesNet (show up under Service Stub). These two are impossible to close as they just keep re-opening themselves.

Yes! I have tried disabling them in services.msc (they are greyed out). Yes I have tried going into Regedit. Yes I have disabled all Xbox/Gamebar settings in Windows and uninstalled what I could.

(No - None of these services are vital for the games to run)

It's also impossible to get an answer from Microsoft. I keep getting "volunteers". Why is it so hard to get an answer to why Microsoft/Windows is forcing these files to run on my computer? If Linux was optimized for the games I play I would switch in a heartbeat.

Hi wBoop and thanks for reaching out. My name is Joseph. I'm an independent advisor. I'll be happy to help you out today.

The Gamebar Presence Writer is automatically enabled on your computer if you opened the Game bar and play a game. This process allows you to record video clips from your games.

If you are playing a game and you want to disable the Gamebar Presence Writer, follow the steps below:

Click Start, and then type Task Manager in the search box.
Select Task Manager.
Under Processes, look for Gamebar Presence Writer, and then press the End task button.
To disable Game bar, here are the steps:

Launch the Xbox app, and then go to Settings Image.
Click Game DVR.
Turn off Record game clips and screenshots using Game DVR.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let me know how it goes.

Thank you!

You are partially correct.

Sadly I **HAVE** disabled and uninstalled anything GameBar/Xbox related. Nothing is active.

Ive turned it off in settings, in Regedit, the Gamebar Presence Writer still starts everytime I open up a game.

Sorry. For sounding rude. But at this point you are just copy/pasting stuff.

As I wrote above I have already done the Regedit, disabled everything in the settings.

It's sad that gamers are forced to use Microsoft's Windows 10 when they clearly have no idea how optimize their platform for gaming.

All these **** forced updates and programs running in the background that does nothing for the gaming experience - It's sickening.

Microsoft, you make me sick.

Rofl... this. I was cringing at both of his responses before I read what you said. :P

On another note, I ended up here because I was monitoring my connection and data coming in and out, and gamebar presence writer poped up.... Didn't know what the **** that was, searched it, realised I already had it off, it shouldn't be running. Yet its sometimes sending some data in and out. But the data in and out is very miniscule, 200kb every half hour. kind of... alarming/questionable

ANYWHO -- I use this program called netlimiter (there might be other programs that do the same thing). Id be interested to know if you throttle the upload & download(game bar) to 1kb/s if it helped ur stuttering in LoL

Yes, I'm having these problems now as well. I got a new cpu and came with a 3month xbox game pass trial. I loaded it up, ok looks ok.

But now I have xbox stuff running all over the place, services all over. Folders in my game drive I can no longer delete, etc.

Same problem, i disabled gameDVR in regedit and in setting, don't have even xbox app and xbox services are disabled. Yet gamebarpresence writer is running. What i used to do was, that i rename file, so it doesn't start. Problem is, by fact that it is running, it can mean gameDVR is on or something!
