Hello,
Thank you for posting your concern here in Microsoft Community and welcome to the Windows 10 Family.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.
From the description of the issue, I understand that you are unable to use the built in fingerprint scanner on your laptop. Additionally, certain key functionalities does not work.
Please follow the below methods and se if it helps to resolve the issue.
Method 1
Try to run the “Hardware and Devices” troubleshooter to diagnose the exact issue.
Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter:
a. Press “Windows key + W”.
b. Type “Troubleshooting” without quotes in the Search box and hit enter.
c. Select “Hardware and Sound” from the Troubleshooter Window.
d. Select “Hardware and Devices” under Devices option.
e. Follow the On Screen instructions.
Method 2
If the above step did not help to resolve the issue, try to download and run the Fixit tool from the link below.
Hardware devices are not working or are not detected in Windows:
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/hardware_device_problems
Method 3
Try to download the drivers for the fingerprint scanner device using the Windows device driver update.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/all-drivers
Alternatively, if the update fails to register and download the requisite drivers for the device, you can also use the vendor id of the device and look for it in the Microsoft Update Catalog.
FAQ: http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/FaqGeneric.aspx
Unknown and uninstalled devices will be listed under Other. The device will have a yellow alert symbol on it. The properties for the device will show that no driver was found.
Under the Device Properties, select the Details tab and scroll down to Hardware IDs. Each Hardware ID is comprised of some very useful information. The VID value provides the vendor ID and the PID value provides the Product ID of the device. Make a note of the PID value. Enter the PID value in the search box of Update Catalog. In cases where you have multiple device types listed, narrow down your search by also adding in the VID value.
Once downloaded and extracted, you can point Device Manager to this driver to install the hardware.
(Note: Links relevant to Windows 8.1, also applies to Windows 10)
Hope the above information was helpful. If you need further assistance, please do let us know and we would be happy to help you.
Thank you.

1) “Windows key + W” does nothing.
2) I accessed the troubleshooter through Settings down to the "Hardware & Devices" option. When I click on that, it opens a new window. When I click "Next" in that window, I get an error message that says "An unexpected error has occurred. The troubleshooting wizard can't continue."
3) I went to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/all-drivers as suggested. This site applies to Windows 8, not 10 which is what the questions is about and what I am running.
4) You said to search for an updated driver at FAQ: http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/FaqGeneric.aspx. There is no search available on that site and, again, it looks like it is focused on OS's older than Win10.

Thanks for the windows key + X, and when i select the Mobility Center I do not have the option to change my Function Key to Multimedia Key. My function keys are stuck unlocked, which my kids press keys on the laptop and all of a sudden my mousepad isn't work. I would like to make it where the Function key needs to be pressed along with the secondary key to enable/disable a function. Thanks.
