Download Ubuntu, copy the installer to a flash drive, boot your computer with the flash drive in place, follow the instructions.
You don't need to uninstall Windows, Ubuntu can wipe your hard drive as part of the install process.
Have fun. Linux is fun to play with, but for everyday use I still prefer Windows. ;-)
