Hello,

From the error code 0x80070424-0x90018, we got a hint The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

To resolve this, make sure you temporarily uninstall (recommended) or disable third-party AV during the upgrade. Turn on Windows Defender then, using this guide:

https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/6397-windows-defender-turn-off.html

Also, disconnect any external devices and perform clean boot:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows

Now perform upgrade and you'll not get that error.

Hope this helps!

Hi Vidyashankar,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand your query related to upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7.

Usually, before upgrading to Windows 10 we need to make sure the PC meets the minimum system requirements. Refer the article Windows 10 system requirements

For further clarity on the issue, please respond to the questions below.

  1. How are you trying to perform the upgrade?

  2. What is the make and model of the PC?

  3. What is the exact error message you received?

Meanwhile, you may want to refer the article Get help with Windows 10 upgrade and installation errors and see if that helps.

You may also try performing Hardware Clean Boot on your PC and see if that helps.

  1. Press Windows key + R. This will open Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for Run.

  2. In Run dialog box, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

  3. Now expand the Display adapters, Printers, Sound, video and game controllers.

  4. Now right click on the drivers inside the section and click on Disable.

  5. If asked for restart click on restart later and disable all the drivers.

  6. Restart the PC after disabling the drivers

Let us know how it goes.
