All I can say is Your Shape is awesome, it will give you a really good workout and is fun at the same time, it is also far more integrated with Kinect than EAs offering. Your Shape 2 was announced at E3 also, so maybe you should wait for that one, although Im unsure when it will be released. There is also a lot of downloadable content for Your Shape. And remember, with Kinect, you can't cheat, your trainer will know exactly where your arms and legs are, and if your not stretching or squatting far enough.

I would agree with that...Your shape is the better game....although my job is teaching fitness classes so i tend to prefer playing sit down driving or shooting games lol. But Kinect is an awesome way to get your body moving and increase your level of fitness

To be honest, I never got into Your Shape, I found it boring and very little to entice me to do the workouts, however I bought the EA one this weekend and found the exercises to be more suited to what I wanted. I guess its all down to personal choice!

We've got Fitness Evolved which is good but I found the menu system a bit difficult to get to grips with and consistently found the game repeating certain programs that I'd been through on set up.

To be fair the free game that comes with it, Kinect Adventures, gets your heart rate up, but if its a workout program your'e after then I agree with the guys above Fitness Evolved is probably the best to date, even with a dodgy menu system.

(Or perhaps its just me with the menu thing).

I try and leave these threads alone but seeing as you said you're getting a Kinect and a fitness game specifially to get fit (and not just for fun) and not to have to go to the gym, let me save you a lot of time and money and tell you that you're going to make hardly any progress with a mindset like that.

Ask on a serious fitness forum if you're looking for tips on getting fit, because you won't find much here.

As for gym shyness, I've been there. There is no shame in asking fitter members for advice on form or whatever. Nobody cares what you look like in there, unless you're truly making a fool of yourself.

So that is my opinion. Reasons for chouce outlined above.

I recommend avoiding EA sports active. Its so unresponsive and and anoying you will be able to use the heart rate tracker to see how frustrated you are getting with it (when you see it reach the top turn off, you are about to throw something expensive).

Yourshape on the other hand, is awesome.

If the OP is like me, and a few others, just playing Kinect as a whole, even without a fitness game like Your Shape, has made me/us fitter, by a long way believe me. LOL

Plus, not everyone wants to go to a gym and show their fat @@@ off to everyone there while sweating like a pig. Costing them money every month and all the hassle of getting there, having the right outfits so you look cool to all there.

I just do Your Shape in my Jim Jams, costs me nothing, and in the privacy of my own home. Not that I'm bad looking of course.

I recommend the Your Shape: Fitness Evolved game, pity I only tend to play the mini games as the workouts are a bit tough for me lol. Just found the cardio boxing today though and totally love it!

The upcoming UFC: Personal Trainer game looks pretty intense, what with cheevs it for working out 100 days in a row and all that haha

Costs nothing? How does Kinect and a fitness game cost nothing?

Without trying to be condescending, you might be surprised how unfit you still are when and if you try and do something that is genuinely physically intense as compared to the general leisurely pace of Kinect games. Of course, I don't know you or anything. You could well have the body of Frank Zane or Jack Lalanne for all I know.

As for sweating like a pig, no-one cares. People go to the gym to sweat. If you aren't sweating then you aren't exercising.

No-one would judge a sweaty fat man working out anyway. When in the gym people only have the time to think about their own routine. Like I said, unless you are making a huge fool of yourself no one cares.

Another thing about these games is that they have limited appeal. You hardly ever see people stick with them for an extended period of time. You yourself don't seem to have any fitness games in your recently played.

Anyway, the only reason I brought up this tired subject again was because OP stated he was getting Kinect to get fit. It's one thing to get it to maybe lose a few lbs but it isn't really a viable alternative to going to the gym, which is what OP wants.

Sorry, one other thing I just saw as I was finishing this post. Why is the 'hassle' of going to the gym such a problem? It's all in the name of exercise, surely?

Unless you mean you have to drive an hour to the gym or something, but I'd imagine most of us are at least within 15-20 minutes walking distance of one. In my lovely idealised world anyway. And you don't need fancy clothes to work out. So long as you're not naked or wearing a woolly jumper you're fine. The cost of a Kinect and fitness title can't be much more (I'd imagine it's less) than a 6 month membership as well (by which time you'll be truly addicted to exercise. Best drug evar)
