Weird Situation..

I just redeemed a 1,600 Microsoft Points Card and I went to change my GamerTag, I successfully changed it, everything's good.

So then I went to start up my game, and when it was on the loading screen (the game, FIFA 11 in this case), it disconnected me from Xbox Live, and when I tried to sign back in, I got the error message "Your Xbox Live Membership isn't valid", so I tried recovering my GamerTag because I thought this was a last resort kind of thing, and it didn't let me finish, it gives me the error message "Xbox LIVE signup is currently unavailable. Please try again later".

Now, I've shut off my console several times, and when I go to sign in to my account, an error message pops up then instantly disappears, and the 'Signing In' screen comes up, and it stays and has been like that for the past 10 minutes.

Does anyone know what's wrong???

Also, the weird thing is that I141 Chicharito is my OLD GamerTag??? What's going on?!

UPDATE: I've found that the error message that pops up when I try to log in (that quickly disappears) is:

"You have not fully recovered your account, please go recover it".

How can I recover it if it won't let me?!?!?! This is getting to be, honestly, so STUPID.

You ever stop to think maybe we didn't know the answer? Bumping your thread over and over again with posts loaded with venom isn't going to make us suddenly discover the answer and it certainly isn't going to compell us to help you.

Vernier Slakes idea sounds good but realy how does this  happen it happened to me to just now my friend wanted to start a clan name The300 and i was jocking my friends gamertag The300Banditos so my friend said he was going to let me use his credit card for points and when we go back to school i will repay him back i bought 800 MS points then i changed my gamertag all good right? no i went on black ops got disconnected and it wouldnt let me sign back in this is real annoying i just want to play.

NVM this is the problem i called customer support they said that they are doing some work on the servers and that it might intterupt the recover account option and that wrok being done on servers will be finished in about 2 hours.

I think people underestimate just how complex a beast services like XBL/PSN/Steam et al are to maintain.

I am having the same problem, although as a bonus I couldn't connect in the first place, my test connection worked perfectly but it wouldn't sign me into xbl.  So I tried to recover my profile to see if that would work and boom!  This.
