Kinect Monitoring Language

Old news. And no, Kinect doesn't monitor your language. Microsoft monitors the Upload Studio service and bans accordingly. As for FIFA and NBA, swearing penalties are the result of technical fouls, a feature of the game.

If you swear on Upload Studio, you WILL get banned, it's in the ToS. Also, the technical fouls on FIFA/NBA are to enhance realism and keep a civil environment, both of which I love.

This issue has already been posted on numerous occasions. It doesn't just happen anywhere & everywhere though - it only occurs on certain games & apps. So far, as the article says, this has been put into effect on 2 separate sports games (FIFA 14 & NBA 2K14) & the Upload Studio app. The former will give you an in-game penalty; the latter will get you a potential ban from Xbox Live. Cursing is against the Xbox Live Code of Conduct, which can be found here. My advice is to simply not curse at all. Finally, some people mistakenly believe that you can get banned for cursing while using Skype - this is false; you can't. Using Skype is considered a private conversation & is protected by privacy laws that Microsoft respects. There, at the very least, you can curse to your hearts content, although I'm not sure the individual on the receiving end would appreciate it.

[/quote]Both programs which are run by the U.S. government, not Microsoft; The company that has brought us the Xbox One has apposed them at every opportunity possible & was only a part of those programs due to legal enforcement - they had no choice in the matter because the U.S. government strong-armed them. So, take up issue with those programs & with the U.S. government, not with Microsoft. Any company that willingly violates their customer's privacy against those customer's wishes won't last long. Yes, and MS helped the government out the whole way. You can't say they didn't have a choice. They had a choice, and they chose to roll over and violate their users' privacy.

no they don't have a choice legally, it was all started with the patriot act.  don't understand why people redirect government issues to companies, and it isn't just MS

you can turn off ref hearing on fifa and swear at the game all you like, all the rest of the voice stuff will stay uneffected, i was nearly sacked after 3 games lol :/

If the bans are only limited to the upload studio then would there be any method of disciplining those who may be using an EXTERNAL DVR for streaming?

[/quote]As long as your external DVR doesn't run through Upload Studio, you should be fine with that. Also, Upload Studio may not be the only game or app to limit swearing or have potential bans in place for doing so, it's just the 1 that everyone is aware of right now. To be on the safe side & to make the community an overall better place, I would just recommend not swearing at all. This advice goes for both the online community & your actual community.
