Chess Titans makes illegal moves

In a game I was playing on level 6, the computer castled on the queen side when one of my bishops was threatening a square, QN8, through which it castled.

Are there other kinds of illegal moves can it make?

Please advise when you can confirm that Chess Titans knows how to play legal chess.

Hello Cosmic Dreamer.

That's the first time I've heard or seen it do an illegal move, do you have a save game from this match?  Would be handy to have it for a bug report. :-) It isn't letting a human player castle either side when a square is threatened.
I've crawled off NNTP - for now. Posting from Yeovil, UK. On the internet at www.windowsresource.net. Please post back letting us know what works and what doesn't. :-)

Sorry, but my disillusionment at the time caused me to simply exit without saving. The game sub-state I reported is specific enough to be able to track down the defect. That is to say, no chess program ought to be able to add an illegal move to the list of currently possible moves, let alone decide to carry it out. That the program dectects human attempts to make illegal moves is a horse of a different colour, so to speak.

I should tell you that I reversed the game state several times and replayed it to see if the program would avoid its mistake, but it repeated it every time. Of course, had I been playing a person, I would have been able to tell him/her error. But programs only send error messages, never receive them. Sigh ...

Although the king is not allowed to pass through an attack when castling, the rook may do so, and that sounds like what happened here.

I stand corrected. I had been taught that no square between rook and king could be threatened.

The program is wrong.

It lets you castle when the position in between is threaten.

I can not paste the image, but you can replicate it

It is true!

It just happen to me and I wrote it on the forum and then I saw this thread.

I can not save the game (there is no option)

I have an image.

But believe him, just try to replicate it and it will happen.

"I had been taught that no square between rook and king could be threatened."
Me too. If the any position is threathened you can not castle. I check it out and the rules are those.

Hope it helps.

I was playing today and the computer made an illegal take on one of my pawns. My pawn moved forward 2 spaces from first move and the computer took it has if it had only moved one. I was very shocked!!!!

apologies if it's patronising - to an expert - but it sounds to me as if you were the victim of a legal 'en passant' move?

otherwise, no clue...
