Windows 8 Trust PC problems

I am unable to trust my pc after installing Windows 8, I know there are a number of post on this issue but there doesn't seem to be a solution.

The email address that is stored on my account is an old email that I no longer have access to and it looks like there is a 30 day wait for the email address to be deleted.

Surely there must be a way to fix this without waiting 30 days.

Thanks

Tommy

Hi tf182309,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community!

I understand that you're not able to trust the PC after installing Windows 8 Pro.

I would suggest you to follow the steps given below:

You need to add the current PC as a Trusted PC for you not to get the error message.
Method 1:
To configure your password reset information and add the Trusted PC, please refer to the link below:

Why do I need to add security info?

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/account-security-password-information

Method 2:

Follow these steps and check if it helps.

a) Press Windows Key +R, type Control Panel.

b) Type troubleshooting in the search bar, click on troubleshooting.

c) Click on System and Security, click on System Maintenance.

d) Follow the steps from the wizard to run the troubleshooter.

Method 3

I would suggest you to check in new Microsoft account.

a) Press “Windows key +W”.

b) Type “users” without quotes in the search box.

c) Then select “Users” from the left panel.

d) Select “Switch to Microsoft account” right below your user account name.

e) Enter the required details.

f) Restart the computer and then try to login using new Microsoft account.

Also refer:

1. Log in to this link.

2. Click Delete on the security information you do not have access to. (Alternate email, Trusted PC, Mobile number)

3. Select "No, I don’t have access" button. (The date on when the security information will be removed will appear)

4. Click Delete Security Info.

5. Update the account with new Security Info.

6. Click Save.

You just need to wait for 30 days for all the information to be removed and the new security information to be automatically confirmed.

Try this workaround in adding the new PC:

Hit Windows Icon on your computer +R.

Type wlstartup.exe and click Ok.

It wills launch Windows Live Essentials 2011.

Log in and select Make this my Trusted PC.

Please perform these recommended steps, review the additional information provided and post back if you are still experience the issue. I will be glad to provide you with additional options available that you can utilize to get this resolved.

Thank you for your reply.

I am not having problems with the procedure for trusting my pc. My issue is whether there is a work around for the 30 day wait for the security details to be updated.

Regards

Tommy

Hi nityananda,

I have tried with Method 2 but I got the message like there were no updates required.

And for Method 3 I already have a Microsoft account, in-fact it was fine before, but refreshed my PC and now am unable to TRUST IT now.

Also tried with the link TRUST PC in the Change PC Settings which is carried with an SMS to mobile even then my problem persists.

Please help me I  resolving it.

Thank'

Ravi
