Windows 10 Explorer is not responding

What OS build are you on?  Hit the Windows key, type winver, hit Enter.
Or Windows key+r, winver, OK

Press Windows key+I to open settings
Select Update and security
View Update history

I used to have this issue on my Laptop. My hard drive was almost full, and I had a LOT of applications on it. The way I solved this was I reset my whole computer which took about 8 hours. If you have too many background programs it can slow Windows Explorer by running so many operations. Windows Explorer is very important to your computer, it controls the Taskbar, Start Menu, Background, Shortcuts and more, so if it has too many processes it may stop responding completely. I make sure to clean my computer, clear my temp folder and run defrag every now and then to keep it from destroying my computer again. Try to limit the programs on your computer and be patient.

Win+e will start Windows Explorer

To clear temp, do Win+r type '%temp%' ctrl+a then ctrl+del

To run defrag, you can go to Start Menu then Windows Administrator Tools and click Defragment and optimize!
