When I connect the computer to the Nikon D90, I cannot see the jpeg files on the SD card.  I can with my other computer using Windows 7 so why can't I using Windows 10?

When your connect your camera to your PC, turn it on and launch Windows Explorer then you should see the camera under "Portable Devices":

If you don't then it is possible that the Nikon D90 uses an interface that is not entirely compatible with Windows. I would check the Nikon FAQs.

BTW - what happens when you remove the SD card from the camera and insert it into your PC's SD card slot?

I can see the D90 under the portable devices but when I click on the device, it says it's empty, no files.  That's the problem, how do I get to the jpeg files stored on the device.  My laptop (Dell XPS/14Z) does not have a SD card slot.

The only thing I can think of is that the folder(s) might be hidden. To view them in Windows Explorer, place a tick mark in the box "Hidden items". You see this box under the View tab.

Can you create your own folder on this chip?

I still suspect a compatibility issue caused by Nikon.

I am having the same problem since upgrading to Win 10.

my D90 fails when using a usb cable connected to the camera and using Nikon viewnx2 image transfer program. Nothing to transfer.

i also have a Fuji X100 and that has exactly the same problem. Fuji are working on a new firmware revision to fix it by end of December 2015.

if I take the SD card out of the camera plug into a reader I can transfer the jpg's ok. There are a lot of folks having the same issues.

I am also having the same issue with Windows 10 and Nikon D90. Is there anyway to make both gadgets compatible? Will Microsoft fix the issue with this compatibility issues with Nikon?

Just plugged my D90 in via USB cable and voila, it now works ok,  View NX2 opens up automatically and my photos are all there for transfer. This is the first time I have tried it since the November update, so it looks like it has now been fixed. Will now try my Fuji X100 to see if that works.
